Book 1 of the Secret Warrior Series
GENRE: YA Fantasy  Romance
Seventeen year old Morgan Daniel has been in the witness protection program most of her life. But The Panteras have caught up with her and her younger brother. Her car is totaled, she’s hurt, and the street gang is closing in when wolves with glowing eyes appear out of nowhere and chase away the killers.

Then a very cute guy who handles a bow like Robin Hood emerges from the woods and takes them to safety at his fortress-like home. And that’s just the first sign that Morgan and her brother have entered a hidden world filled with secrets.

Excerpt:

“Should we stay, or go while the smoke lasts?” The cloth muffled her voice.
“You can hardly walk.”
She couldn’t argue that point. Neither could they wait to be found. “The Panteras won’t give up until we’re dead.”
“Maybe they think we are,” he argued under his breath.
“Maybe.”
She suspected Mateo would demand a body, even a charred one. Make that two. She and Jimmy didn’t have much choice, though, other than to crouch in dread while the fire crackled.
“Next birthday, I want an AK-47.” He nudged her. “Look.”
She fixed her blurry gaze on what appeared to be a black wolf emerging from the trees. The creature was larger than she’d thought wolves were, and she’d understood none remained in these mountains. They were all farther north or west. Somewhere else.
Apparently, she was misinformed.
Judging by its size, she guessed this was a male. He stopped before their hideout. Eyes the color of red coals surveyed them before he turned and darted down the trail she’d spotted.
“Holy cow, Batboy. Did you see that?” she whispered.
Jimmy didn’t reply. He prodded her again.
She stared at the big brown and gray wolf that took the black one’s place. Where on earth had he come from?
The beast turned its furry head at her and Jimmy. His eyes shone with a luminous light, like fireflies…

MediaKit_BookCover_SeekingDavi
GENRE: M/M, Paranormal, Contemporary, Erotic, LGBT
A place to belong and strong arms to hold him—but will this shifter get what he needs?

After being rescued and taken to the Sanctuary, a refuge for lion shifters, Talisman knows he’s safe. But he’s restless. All the other shifters have paired up, except Talisman and one other shifter. The guy is fine, but he doesn’t make Talisman’s heart beat or his lion roar. Talisman refuses to give up looking for what he wants, but he never expected love to come running, stark naked, through a hole in the fence.

Davi doesn’t understand what’s happened to him. One minute, he’s a happy lion at the petting zoo. The next, he’s being hunted and humans want to use his head as a trophy. When his hope is almost gone, two lions appear to show him an escape route. At the Sanctuary, he realizes his power to shift and the desires of a human male. He doesn’t trust humans, but there’s one shifter he wants to know better.

Talisman and Davi must decide whether to give in to their animal urges or let the ghosts of the past tear their world apart for good. No matter what they choose, there’s one person who doesn’t want anyone, especially the shifters, to get their happy ending. As Talisman and Davi seek forever, it just might be ripped right out of their hands.

The guy waited for the longer haired man to walk away then he sat in the grass. He didn’t say anything, remaining quiet.
Davi watched him, unsure what to do. His cat wanted to sniff out the stranger and scope out the situation. Did Davi trust his cat? Yes, but not that man.
Neither Davi or the guy sitting in the grass moved for what seemed like forever. Finally, the man spoke. “Davi? My name is Talisman. I don’t know if you remember me from the petting zoo, but I was there with you.” He didn’t look at Davi or even in Davi’s direction. “I think I’m a few months older than you. I remember being in the pens, having the kids pet us and feeling wonderful. Then the good feelings stopped. I know you’re scared. I was scared, too. Unlike the humans at the petting zoo, we won’t hurt you here.”
Davi debated sitting up but remained hunched down. Maybe, he could trust Talisman, but he didn’t remember him.
“It’s scary. You’ve shifted, and you don’t understand why. I know. I’ve been there. I didn’t shift until I was safe, but when it happened, I didn’t understand what was going on. It’s okay.” He glanced over to where Davi hid. “If you don’t come out, I can’t help you. I promise. I won’t hurt you, and I’ll help you get used switching between your cat and human forms.”
“No.” Davi kept hiding, but decided to at least try to talk to Talisman.
“Can you come out?” Talisman crawled across the grass, closer to Davi. “Would it help if I shifted?” He didn’t wait for an answer. Instead, he yanked his shirt up over his head then stood and shoved his pants down his legs. He kicked out of the boots and stood nude before Davi.
Davi watched Talisman move. Wow. He’d never seen a naked man before, but if that’s what they looked like, he liked what he saw. His cat wasn’t upset, either.
Talisman dropped to his knees and placed his hands in the grass. He lowered his head then wriggled. Fur sprouted on Talisman’s shoulders and back. His teeth elongated and a growl ripped from his throat. The fur spread down his chest to his belly and covered his legs. His hands and feet shifted into paws. When he shook his head, thick fur sprouted behind his ears and beneath his chin. Before Davi’s eyes, the man shifted into the lion.

Excerpt:

Marie waves another cookie at me. “Earth to Amanda!” She points to the dining table. “Declan was just telling me that he loves the idea of a wedding cake in the shape of bagpipes.” On the table I see schematics of wedding cakes so complex they look like an architecture firm has designed blueprints for them, complete with pulleys and fire sprinkler systems.

Shannon gives me a look that says anything but. “No, Mom, he was saying the opposite.”

Marie inhales, the air whistling past her back teeth. “No, he didn’t! He said he’d love a cake made in the shape of bagpipes as much as he loves me.” She gives Shannon a doe-eyed look. “There’s only one way to interpret that comment.”

Shannon and I exchange a look and say, in unison, “Right.”

Now how about a look into Enticing Hart

MediaKit_BookCover_EnticingHart

Hart Emile is tired of cruising for guys, living a soulless existence. He needs a change; so when an acquaintance gives him the number of the gay friendly Red Fox Ranch that’s hiring for staff, he heads south.

Oak Redman is eighteen years old and desperate to explore his awakening sexuality. The moment Hart lays eyes on the handsome young rancher he’s smitten. Not only is Oak hot, spirited and very persistent, he is also the ranch boss’s son and strictly off limits. Hart tries to fight his feelings and to respect his boss and the family who quickly become dear to him, but after Oak’s Grandma suggests he gets with Oak he can’t deny himself the most exciting and enticing man he has ever met.

Hart’s not the only man to have noticed how sweet and charming Oak Redman is. A family friend, Steve, is also anxious to have the affections of the young rancher. Can Hart work out Steve’s dark secrets before it’s too late and keep his job, his lover and his life?

Teaser:

The high-pitched choir of songbirds echoed through the forest as Oak and Hart settled on a rug, late in the afternoon. The two of them had found a clearing at the side of the forest that was near enough to the tress to offer shade, but also close to the water where they’d been fishing. They’d no sooner sat down than Hart spotted something on the other side of the riverbank moving in the grass.

“Shh…I just saw something. I think it’s an otter.” Hart absentmindedly put a hand on Oak’s lap to still him. He didn’t know which was more exciting, seeing the otters, or the burning hot palm that touched his thigh. Oak sat rigidly, glancing between the handsome cowboy’s hand and the otter family bounding along through the grass bank.

“Aren’t you going to get your camera?” Hart chivvied him along.

“Oh…yes.” Oak moved slowly, reaching for the black bag and pulling the camera out. He attached the lens calmly and crawled down the small decline toward the stony bank. He beckoned Hart to join him then focused the lens on the otters. He could hear his companion creeping through the grass behind him. Belly down on the mud, Oak steadied the camera as Hart came alongside him, and let out a sigh as he sank down next to Oak to watch.

The female had two pups with her. As their svelte bodies wound through the rocks to the water’s edge, the mother otter glided into the river without so much as a splash, and the two pups followed. Oak lost count of the photos he took, possibly hundreds of shots as they paddled through the murky depths cautiously. Their fur shiny and dark from absorbing water, making their frames sleeker as they gracefully bathed against the flow.

“Can you hear them?” Hart said with a smile that sprang from his lips right through to his big gray eyes.

“Yeah…” Oak whispered.

The otters called to one another with endearing high-pitched squeaks.

“You ever seen them hold hands?” Hart asked, his lips so close to Oak’s ear that he could feel Hart’s breath tickling the skin.

“No, but I’d love to get a picture of it.”

After about fifteen minutes of lying in the grass like a predator, Oak’s pointed his lens to follow the family towards some big flat stones that were warm from the sun. The otters rested on the smooth surface, shaking their fur, and squeaking to each other until eventually all three disappeared through the long grasses.

“Hart.” Oak turned to face his companion on the ground.

“Yes?”

“I just realized I’m getting damp down here,” Oak said, letting out a snort.

“Me too…” A wicked smile came to his dark pink lips that spread out with luscious fullness as he broke into a chuckle.

At that moment elation filled Oak Watching the beautiful man was always a pleasure. The river tickled over rocks, murmuring quietly, and Hart’s lips were so close to Oak’s that he could feel each breath on his skin. Moving closer, Hart’s mouth brushed Oak’s so slightly, that Oak wasn’t even sure they’d actually touched.

With closed eyes, Oak parted his mouth willing the man’s tongue inside. Soft, plump lips pressed against his sending a shudder through his spine. His breath hitched with anticipation. A chaste kiss ended with Hart pulling away and shaking his head.

“You and your wildlife photography are leading me astray, young Mr. Redman.”

“Sorry…” Heat rushed up to Oak’s neck and face. He couldn’t understand why he was blushing. The soft, innocent kiss had been simple enough, but the highly-strung emotions behind it made him hot with every need possible. All of his senses were raw, responsive to the man’s presence. What would Hart’s muscles feel like under the man’s touch? Warm, golden skin would rub easily against his, and the comforting, arousing scent of pine would enhance each sensation further.

Hart stood; the blue T-shirt had ridden upward, exposing his flat stomach and hard abs. He tugged the material down, covering the dark treasure trail leading to his cargo pants, and dusted himself off, shedding grass from his top. Oak stared, then realized he should roll his tongue back in and get to his feet. He followed Hart back to the blanket, and flicked through some of the shots he’d taken of the otters.

“You want a look?”

“Sure.” Hart put hand out and took the camera instead of coming close to Oak but being three feet away still made his skin tingle with expectation. An expectation that would go unfulfilled.

25 Days of Holiday Fun with Karen Cino

Sketch made with digital tablet, spirit woman

Celebrate the holidays with author Karen Cino

If you could ask Santa for one thing, what would it be and why?

I would ask him to bring my characters alive on Lifetime Television Network.

What is your favorite holiday candy?

Truffles and Christmas colored M & M’s.

It’s the season of Egg Nog.  Do you prefer it with rum, without alcohol or can’t stand the stuff?

I hate Egg Nog.  What I love is Kahlua mixed with Bailey’s Irish Cream.

What is one of your holiday traditions to do each year?

I drive around the neighborhood looking at the Christmas lights with my kids.

If you could kiss any character under the mistletoe, who would it be?

It would be a toss up between Mario Morales in the Boardwalk and Dino Pinizi in Mystical Wonders – Second Chances and The Right Call.

Holiday cookies are my favorite to bake each year.  Do you have a favorite holiday cookie that you enjoy each year?

Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year.  And the only time I got wild baking cookies.  My favorite cookie is the 7 layer, which I also make.  I usually make eight or nine different cookies.  I love making trays of cookies and bringing them to my family and friends.

To deal with her onset of early Alzheimer, Fay Odina takes a trip to Italy to spend time with her family, leaving her daughter Heather in charge of the family business.

Madison and Dino Pinzini are dealing with the complications of Dino’s heart attack, which puts their relationship to the test. Meantime, as Cassie Scott deals with trust and commitment issues, she meets New York City Police Detective Antonio Palencia.

Cassie’s cousin, Sophia returns to Staten Island.  Sophia is involved in a dead end relationship with a secret past hidden in a box full of letters.

The women begin receiving puzzle pieces of them in the mail, which could result in disaster.  All they have to go on is Shari’s vision that shows long shiny purple fingernails.

When Antonio receives a tip, he and Cassie have to race against time to solve the mystery.

Excerpt

“I could use another shot of vitamin C, meaning another mimosa,” Madison said.

The woman sitting at the next table tapped her pen on their table. “Excuse me ladies, but would you mind moving your umbrella a little to the right.” She pointed. “The sun is killing me.”

“I see no problem with readjusting the umbrella.”

Sophia stood and pulled at the small navy blue umbrella, only to have it go back to its original place. She tried again, but this time when she pulled, the umbrella came out of the holder, and went airborne, taking the place settings off the table next to them.

Upon impact not only did Sophia and Madison go hysterical, but so did the two ladies at the table next to them.

“Thank God this section isn’t crowded.” Sophia laughed so hard tears rolled from her eyes.

“Excuse me, what’s going on here?” the manager Edwin, an elderly gray-haired man dressed in a pink shirt with matching tie, asked.

“I don’t know.” Sophia pinched her leg under the table to keep from laughing out loud anymore.

“I’m sure the umbrella didn’t fly out of the table by itself. It’s a good thing it’s early. If this happened yesterday, you would have taken out a customer’s eye.”

“Are you kidding me? Do you think I purposely ripped the umbrella out of its base?” Sophia asked.

“Every time you two are here,” he pointed to her and Madison, “there is always some sort of calamity here.”

“No there isn’t.”

“A couple of weeks ago, you replenished the people’s coffee, taking over the coffee station,” he directed at them, his tone abrupt.

“You were short-handed. I just wanted to help out,” Sophia said still keeping eye contact.

“Doesn’t say much for my establishment.”

“We’ve apologized over and over for that day,” Madison said.

“Edwin, you know we wouldn’t do anything to harm this place. This is our place,” Sophia said emphasizing the word our. “Besides, I send you a lot of business.”

“And that I’m grateful for. But please if you need anything, just ask.”

“Okay,” Sophia said, biting her lower lip.

Edwin turned to Madison who nodded her head. “Good. I’m going to hold the two of you to it.”
