Title: The Howling Heart

Author: April Bostic

Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance

Published on August 8, 2013 by Eternal Press

Length: 220 pages

Synopsis:

Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who aspires to reach the top of the corporate ladder. She’s climbing fast when given the promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father’s death. She inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies, and just when she thinks her luck couldn’t get any worse, she has a car accident in the mountains and awakens in the small, remote community of Black River.

Soon, she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv—wolves descended from 13th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack.

Now, she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.

Excerpt:

Riley walked away and took a few steps toward the river. With his back facing me, he stood while looking at the waterfall. It was a beautiful scene—his tall, shirtless body with his blonde hair tousled and gently blowing in the wind. He took another step and surprised me by kicking off his boots. Then, he leaned down and rolled up his pant legs. He jogged over to a cluster of large rocks, his footing quick and poised, and sat with his bare feet dangling in the water.

I yelled out, “Is it safe to do that?”

He looked at me and laughed lightly. “Yeah, it’s safe. Do you think there are piranhas or crocodiles in the river?” He continued to chuckle, and a toothy smile broke free on my face. “Don’t worry. There isn’t anything deadly in these waters—just harmless fish, frogs, and Northern Water snakes. They won’t hurt you.” He beckoned to me. “Come over here and join me. The water is nice and cool.” He kicked his feet, making splashes in the water.

I was hesitant to join him, but the water intrigued me. I decided to trust him, so I walked over to the rocks. They were flat, smooth, and slick. My steps were wobbly as I tried to avoid getting a foot stuck in the cracks or slipping on the moss. Once I stood next to him, he looked up at me with a wide smile. I removed my sneakers, peeled off my socks, and rolled up my sweatpants. Riley was right. The water was pleasantly cool and refreshing.

He kicked his feet again, this time making a bigger splash. I tried to outdo him, but my smaller feet were no match for his large ones. We laughed together, but the rushing water overpowered the harmonious sound.

I stole a glance at him while he looked at the river. He leaned back casually on his elbows, and I couldn’t help but admire his six-pack abs and toned chest. Little, brown moles spotted his torso, and I imagined playing connect-the-dots with my tongue. His skin enticed me, and I wanted to run my hands all over it. A lustful feeling washed over me, and I swallowed thickly, averting my gaze.

Riley chuckled low in his throat, and I knew he caught me staring. His hand touched my lower back, and I looked at him over my shoulder. A grin spread across his lips as he tugged the shirt hem.

“This is my shirt, isn’t it?” My eyes widened, and I whipped my head around. In less than two seconds, my face flushed with heat.

“Um, yes,” I mumbled. “Sorry. I borrowed it, because Quinn’s clothes were too small for me, and I didn’t feel comfortable browsing through Celia’s wardrobe.” The latter reason was a lie. I was just  determined to cover
myself with his clothes.

“No worries. I don’t mind,” he soothed. “You can borrow whatever you want. What’s mine is yours, love.”

I turned my head slightly to peek at him, grateful his focus was still on the shirt. I recalled the words he spoke earlier. “Let’s say hypothetically I did stay here with you. How would we be together when I’m human and you’re a wolf?” “If you’re referring to us being biologically compatible, Máni and Freya blessed us, so we can breed with humans.”

His foot brushed against mine under the water. It came back a second time and then a third. He sat up and scooted closer to me, until our thighs were touching. I looked over at him and almost fell into his seafoam pools. I had to regain control before I did something I would regret…like lean over and kiss those bee-stung lips.

The Trouble with Mistletoe by Jennifer Snow

You can’t say no to a mistletoe kiss, no matter who’s under it!

Since leaving Brookhollow and her fiancé, Luke Dawson, twelve years earlier, Victoria Mason hasn’t looked back. She’s traded the small-town dream of marriage, kids and family Christmas dinners for late nights working at a high-powered acquisitions firm, lunches at trendy New York restaurants and jet-set vacations on the slopes.

So her latest work assignment, to acquire Brookhollow’s sporting-goods store, poses a challenge for Victoria, in more ways than one. Because it’s almost Christmas, and she’s got other holiday plans. And the owner is reluctant to sell. And the owner is Luke. She needs to wrap up the deal before she gets caught up in her old life and her old love…or becomes trapped under the mistletoe. Again.

Teaser Excerpt:

Victoria’s gaze fell to his left hand. No wedding band. Her relief both irritated and confused her.

“Well, we’re not actually interested in owning this store,” she explained. “My company’s client ran into complications obtaining a permit to build one of their own, with Legend’s still doing business nearby.”

“Well, I guess they’re out of luck. I just bought the place and I plan on keeping it.” Luke collected the discarded packing paper from the new stock boxes. He crumpled the sheets and tossed them into a wastebasket near the counter.

She narrowed her eyes. “I’m surprised you’re interested in owning a run-down sporting goods store.” The Luke she used to know would rather remodel the old-fashioned buildings in the downtown core, not own a retail store in one of them. He’d always had a talent for designing and building things. When they were kids, his derby cars were always the best in the race and she remembered the lemonade stand he’d made for her from the wood left over from building his sister’s treehouse.

“We haven’t spoken in a long time. Maybe I’m not the same guy you remember.” Pulling a Swiss Army knife out of his jeans, he tore into the remaining cardboard boxes, breaking them down.

Victoria had noticed the changes in him, despite her best efforts. Time had been good to him. He was bigger now, muscular and slightly wider around the waist. No longer the physique of a struggling, young, architectural student. His face showed signs of maturity, but the fine lines around his mouth and eyes only enhanced his looks.

Luke straightened and his gaze met hers. “Besides, this store has a history in the community. That means something to most of us.”

Of course. Luke had worked in the store every summer when they were teenagers. His interest in preserving it made sense. “Okay, well I guess we should get to work.” She faked a smile, forcing her professionalism. She didn’t need or want any more time to get to know this man over again. What she wanted was for him to sign her contract so she could get out of Brookhollow. “I’ll have an offer by Wednesday, but we should go over the preliminary paperwork as soon as possible.” She scanned the store for a place to lay out her documents. “The major chain store interested in purchasing Legend’s…”

Luke turned off the lights and unplugged the strand of multicolored Christmas lights draped across the window. Only the glow from the pole lamp outside illuminated them.

“Do you prefer we do this in the dark?” she asked sarcastically.

He slipped his coat on and wrapped his scarf around his neck. “I have dinner plans.” He stood next to the door.

The familiar scent of his musky cologne made her pulse race. She suddenly remembered the nights she’d fallen asleep in his T-shirt, when he’d been away at college. “Tomorrow, then.” She stepped out into the frigid air. “I’ll come by in the morning,” she said through the icy burst of wind and snow. Reaching into her purse, she pulled out a silver monogrammed cardholder.  She popped it open with her freshly manicured fingernails and slid one of her cards free. Her hand shook as she handed it to Luke.

“Your card?” he asked.

“It has my cell number on it.” Victoria’s teeth chattered.

“Victoria, this is Brookhollow.” He laughed. “I could stand in the center and call to you, and wherever you are, you’d hear me.”

The rich, deep sound of his laughter caught her off guard. Not at all the boyish laugh she remembered.

“What?” He asked, giving her a puzzled look.

Her cheeks heated and she looked away. “Anyway, let’s not test that theory. Use the cell number.”

Book Spotlight/Giveaway~ Master for the Night

Title: Master for Tonight (Book 1 in the Master for Tonight Duo)

Author: Elaine Barris

Genre: Paranormal Erotic Romance

Release Date: October 10, 2013

Synopsis:

***Due to graphic sexual content this book is intended for an audience 18 years or older***

While feeding in the slums of the city, he is interrupted by a woman. Mesmerized, he extracts his fangs from his meal and follows her home. Instantly obsessed, he watches her nightly. Nights turn to months. His desire for her becomes overwhelming. Though fearing the wrath of a vicious Maker who turned him against his will, Julian decides to give Kate the most erotic night of her life, and then walk away.

Kate Collins is an average woman in her late-30’s, plagued by panic attacks. Sent home by her boss at the shelter, she prepares to have a night of relaxation…until her doorbell rings.

Julian Montfort is the most beautiful and masculine man she has ever seen. He exudes ‘maleness’ from his entire body—that certain quality some men have in their DNA that makes a woman recognize her femininity…her ‘womanness.’ That part of her that is soft, malleable, and made to accept him. Drawn to him despite his unconventional arrival, Kate must answer his question: “Can you allow yourself this indulgence? It’s just one night.”

Deeply sensual and erotic, Master for Tonight is a contemporary vampire romance which goes beyond the burning physical attraction between Julian and Kate, telling a tale of two people drawn together under incomprehensible circumstances, and their fight to be together against all odds.

Excerpt:

He let go of her hands and cut her off, placing a finger over her lips as he rubbed her arm.
“The only thing I want tonight is you. The only thing you need to know tonight is I’m going to fuck you…as I wish…for as long as I wish.” He rolled his head in a circle to stretch before looking directly back into her eyes, and added as an afterthought, “Hmm… Hurt you? Your arousal will likely hurt you excruciatingly until I allow your release.”

And as his sensual voice streaked through her, Kate’s mind shorted out like a tripped wire snapping, completely blank. Her whole body betrayed her yet again by flushing with unrestrainable heat.

“Stay as you are, Kate.” He pushed the bunched-up nightgown at her waist, down to the floor to pool at her feet. Shivering hard, she moved her hands to cover her nakedness, dropping her head to her chest, avoiding his steady gaze. Grabbing her hands, he moved them back to her sides. He lifted her chin high to face him and said, “I told you to stay as you were, Kate. You will do good to listen to me.”

His fingers pressed into her hair, curling a bit of it around her ear as he leaned in to the side of her head. His voice lowered seductively until it was a purr in her ear. “I know how to please a woman to the point her voice is hoarse from her screams of desire, her bed linens soaked, and her legs quivering for hours after I’m done.” His lips scantly apart from her ear, his voice dropping lower, he continued, “In the matter of choices, I know which sounds best to me. Do you, beautiful girl? I’ll prove I was worth the trouble of opening your door. Can you allow yourself this indulgence? It’s just one night.”

Teaser Excerpt:

My urge to destroy returned with a vengeance. I turned my Hummer around.

“Where you going to, Cody?” my mother demanded, her voice frantic.

I didn’t answer, but hit the gas and gunned the Hummer toward Bridie’s old place.

“Cody, where are you going?” my dad demanded.

I stared ahead as I floored it.

“Cody, just stop!” Jenna said. “I know where you’re going! You stop right now, Cody!”

Ignoring all their pleas, I drove on until I pulled up into the parking lot outside Bridie’s old place.

Just in time – I spotted her standing outside Scott’s Roadster in the parking lot.

Scott was still in the driver’s seat, talking on his phone.

I braked and without killing the engine, I hopped out of my Hummer.

Within seconds, my family was running behind me, pleading with me to leave them alone.

Bridie spotted me first. “Cody!” she mouthed, fear in her eyes.

I picked up a brick from the side of the road and walked toward Scott.

“Cody!” Bridie screamed. “What are you doing? STOP!”

I ignored her and walked over to my brother. I was going to smash his skull with the brick until his brains lay all over his Roadster.

His window was opened. Good. When he saw me above him, brick high up in the air, ready to hit him with it, he dropped his phone.

I raised the brick to smash it down his face.

His eyes grew large.

“CODY, NO!” Bridie screamed.

When I looked into Scott’s eyes, I wavered.

He stared, I glared.

I willed myself to do it, to kill Scott.

But I couldn’t do it. He was still my brother.

Even though he stole my girl, even though he hurt me like no one in this world had ever hurt me, I couldn’t hurt him.

How I wished he was some other ahole at that moment.

Frustrated, I booted in the Roadster’s door three times. The door caved into him.

Scott tried to open his door, but the door wouldn’t budge.

He scrambled toward the passenger’s side and tried to open that door, but I dropped the brick and pushed the Roadster until it fell onto its side.

“What are you doing, CODY?” Bridie screamed.

With the Roadster on its side and Scott trying to boot out the BMW’s windshield, I spun around to look at Bridie.

With eyes as big as saucers, she walked backward. “Cody, stop, please!”

I walked faster. She turned and broke into a run, away from me.

There’s no way she could outrun me. I raced after her. She ran faster and in a bad move, toward my Hummer. I caught up with her and grabbed her hair.

“Where the hell are you going to, sister-in-law? Huh? We need to talk.”

“No, leave me alone!” she cried as she tried to free her hair from my fingers.

“You owe me an explanation,” I said, as I dragged her to the Hummer and shoved her into it. I got into the driver’s seat and sped off.

Behind me, Jenna, my mother, and father were running after the Hummer, screaming my name. I didn’t stop.

“Slow down, Cody!” Bridie cried.

“Why? Why should I, huh? Let us both die. Today. NOW!” I stepped on the gas.

“CODY, PLEASE STOP!” she begged.

I flashed her a mirthless smile. “Scared? Huh?”

“Why are you doing this?” She was crying now.

“Because I thought I was in a bad dream, but guess what; it’s true, my brother and my GIRL! Not a dream, honey, just my reality.”

“Cody…”

“Why the hell are you CRYING?” I yelled.

“Cody, I don’t understand; you cheated on me. Why are you acting like you’re so cut, huh?”

“Cheated on you? What are you talking about, BRIDIE? I never cheated on you.”

“You did!”

“When? When did I cheat on you, huh? You talking about that stupid body shot? That was cheating? Huh?”

“No, not the body shot, Cody. The night of the party – you cheated with Nicole!”

“What are you talking about, Bridie? You’re hallucinating. I did not cheat with Nicole.”

“Yes, you did, Cody! I walked into your room and saw you both in bed. I left straight away.”

I shook my head in disbelief. She could lie so blatantly? Fury overtook me. I locked the steering wheel of the Hummer. It slid across the road like it was on snow.

“Today, both of us are going to die,” I warned.

A chance meeting at a sweet shop…Can it be love?

Jenna Stevens wasn’t looking for love nor did she believe it would walk into her life one holiday season. Marc du Bree needs to find his destined mate so he can take over the family duties from his father. Meeting Jenna, Marc finds the connection he has been searching for. Can he convince this gun shy woman that his love is indeed true?

Teaser Excerpt:

All of a sudden, Marc grabbed her as a car skidded to a stop. She saw it was inches from
where she was walking. Shaking and trembling she felt his arms around her. As her trembling eased, his scent reminded her of the wild, untamed yet equally primitive African jungle. It stole into her senses, making her want to take a taste of the wildness she felt in his touch. Marc rested his chin on the top of her head and sighed. He leaned down, tipped her chin up and slowly slid one finger along her pouty lower lip. Leaning down, he replaced his finger with his tongue and slowly slithered across her lips until she parted them.
Jenna didn’t know what happened but the next thing she knew, she was pressed up against
him, wrapping her arms around his neck, sliding her fingers in his hair as the kiss became deeper, more primitive. Moaning softly, he slipped his hands to her waist. He softly broke off the kiss with a groan. His breath came out steaming in the air as he rested his forehead against the top of her head.
“My god, mia cara, you are intoxicating to me!” Marc said.
Blushing, Jenna made a show of wiping something off her jeans to still the trembling in her
hands. Then she felt his fingers caress her face in a loving gesture and she unconsciously leaned into him before she could stop herself.

Spotlight/Giveaway~The Seacrest by Aaron Paul Lazar

Cover The Seacrest E-BookThe Seacrest by Aaron Paul Lazar

Amazon Smashwords

They say it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

Finn McGraw disagrees.

He was just seventeen when he had a torrid summer affair with the girl who stole his heart—and then inexplicably turned on him. Finn may have moved on with his life, but he’s never forgotten her.

Now, ten years later, he’s got more than his lost love to worry about. A horrific accident turns his life upside down, resurrecting the ghosts of his long-dead family and taking the lives of the few people he has left.

Finn always believed his estranged brother was responsible for the fire that killed their family—but an unexpected inheritance with a mystery attached throws everything he knows into doubt.

And on top of that, the beguiling daughter of his wealthy employer has secrets of her own. But the closer he gets, the harder she pushes him away.

The Seacrest is a story of intrigue and betrayal, of secrets and second chances—and above all, of a love that never dies.

Teaser:

July 2, 2013

Life can change in the blink of an eye. This blink came when a cop car cruised up The Seacrest’s white shell driveway on a hot Saturday in July.

I’ll never forget the moment. You know how folks remember where they were when John Lennon died? Or when President Kennedy was assassinated? It was like that, every detail stamped into my brain, forever.

A fresh breeze laden with the scent of the sea rustled blue flowers in a nearby hydrangea hedge. Hot and sweaty, I stood in the blazing sun, feeling like a fool. I’d just finished weed wacking around the paddock fence posts. Unfortunately, said weed wacker had spooked Libby Vanderhorn’s favorite mare, Serendipity, who I secretly called Dippy, because she was such a loose cannon. She’d bucked three times and knocking down several fence boards. Libby was a good rider, but this time she’d landed in a sprawling heap on the soft dirt, swearing at me.

The boss’s gorgeous, stuck-up daughter didn’t mince words, and the sting of her accusations still sounded in my head. How stupid can you be, Finn? What’s wrong with you?

Libby’s father held great power on Cape Cod. Rudolph Vanderhorn sat on so many boards, I’d lost count. His father’s fish canning company made a fortune back in the eighties, and he and his daughter had enjoyed the spoils ever since.

I stooped to pick up a hammer from my toolbox, planning to reattach the fence boards before any of Libby’s horses got hurt on the protruding nails. Curious now, I watched the Brewster Police car circle the long drive, heading toward the mansion. The local authorities stopped by every few days to discuss town matters with my boss. But today the blue light was flashing, which didn’t look like a casual visit.

A shudder went through me, and I turned cold. Something bad had happened. I sensed it.
