Discover Mate of the Alpha and a giveaway

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Hi and welcome to my blog, Marie. Please make yourself at home and grab a drink from my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake.  To get us started can you tell us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?

Hello! My name is Marie Mason and I write shifter romances. Whew, glad that confession is out of the way. I’m working feverishly to finish Blind Date with a Bear which I hope to have out by mid-November. The characters are being a little difficult; they don’t want the story to end either. In December I hope to have Christmas Wolf, a very short shifter romance up for the holiday.

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Chocolate and men. And ice cream. Preferably chocolate ice cream on a man.

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.

I secretly want to try a ménage-a-trois – I mean really what woman wouldn’t?

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

The mountains. There’s nothing more beautiful than driving along a stretch of interstate on a clear blue autumn day.

How do you get yourself in the mood to write?

Open my computer and stare at the blank screen. I also go back and re-read books from my keeper shelf – yes, I have shelves filled with paperback books even in this electronic age.

What is the strangest source of writing inspiration you’ve ever had?

Standing in a check-out line at the grocery store. I know the plot has been done before, but what if that handsome stranger just grabbed you and kissed you?

Are your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?

They need to be taught. The women are usually not as self-confident as most. They need someone to show them they are loveable. Yes, some readers might disagree with not having a strong, confident heroine, but really, what person is that secure in themselves that they think they are truly loveable? To me, that person is even stronger when they allow themselves to open up to another person than the individual who has no doubts.

The heroes in my stories just don’t believe in love. They believe in sex and mating, but not the pesky emotions. To them, mating is loving. There’s a fine line between being domineering and being dominant. Most men have difficulty learning that lesson. But don’t worry, my heroines always make sure they learn the difference.

What can readers expect next from you?

Blind Date with a Bear is scheduled for release in mid-November and Christmas Wolf in December. And, I’m just saying, maybe you’ll see a character or two (hint, hint) from Blind Date sometime in 2014.

Thanks for coming. Is there anything else you want to add? (links, news, etc)

Please join me on Facebook at

Or, I’d love to hear from anyone at

Title: Mate of the Alpha

Author: Marie Mason

Amazon UK:

Ethan Scott was reluctant to claim his mate, Lily Reynolds. He was afraid his carnal needs would be too much for the curvy innocent. His wolf was of another mind, pushing the man relentlessly to mate. But Ethan knew once he had the brown-haired beauty there would no turning back. He’d claim her, mate her, and bred her. When she’s attacked by a group of rouge wolves, Ethan fears he has left his claiming too late and will lose his mate forever. When he comes to her rescue, he discovers the spirited Lily is more than ready to be the mate of an alpha.

Lily Reynolds has been crushing on her boss since she started work at Wolfe Enterprises six months ago. She knew the chances of attracting the wolf into a long-term relationship were slim to none – slim being a state she hadn’t achieved since childhood. She loved her curves and knew there was someone out there who would love every soft, luscious inch of her voluptuous body. Heartbroken, she knew Ethan Scott wasn’t that man despite the hot and cold signals the wolf shifter had been given her for months.

Excerpt 1:

He wanted to strip away the pinstriped navy suit and finally see the well-rounded body that was pushing both man and wolf to the brink of madness. He wanted to see what she wore underneath. He had fantasies of her being bare beneath the businesslike façade, or wearing silk underthings made to drive a man wild. Did his mate have a lingerie fetish? If not, she soon would once he claimed her.

As it was, he was nearly undone by the sight of her.

In the past, he knew he had gravitated toward women who held only the most basic appeal to him. Thin in body, shallow in nature. He used them for gratification and nothing else, always waiting for the day his mate would walk into his life. A mate like Lily whose full, voluptuous body called to the beast in him. Her full breasts that begged to be kissed. Her curvy legs that pleaded to be spread. Everything about her was delightful. He knew he could spend days with her in and out of bed and never want for anything else.

About the Author:

Marie Mason loves to write romances about shifters and the curvy girls who love them. Her stories focus on the romance element in any genre – erotica, paranormal, contemporary. There is always an happy-ever-after in a Marie Mason romance.

Teaser Excerpt

His annoyance must have shown, for the dressmaker purred softly, “She’s to be wed, you know?”

“I don’t give a fuck. I want her.”

“Qui. I do notice your big problem, monsieur. I can arrange for a drug to be administered to zee mint julep I’m going to get for her. There is a room in back with a bed. You may do to her what you wish, for as long as you wish, without interference. Zee drug…it will assure she gives the monsieur no trouble.” She smiled, her thin lips curling. “It will so heat zee mademoiselle’s lovely body she will be most desperate for your hard cock. For zee right price, of course, I will arrange it for zee monsieur.”

Gabe changed his mind about the fox. He thought instead, she rather reminded him of a thin-lipped lizard with sharp teeth.

“When you’re appetite has been appeased, monsieur, have no worry, she will not remember who stole her maidenhead. Many a young lady has lost her cherry in my special room, Mon ami, with no way to explain how it was lost once she weds or if she conceives…which happens sometimes. How she suddenly has a bastard in her belly remains a mystery for the lovely cannot recall anything that happened to her.” She lifted a smooth brow. “Are you interested in a little arrangement, a sweet fulfilling rendezvous with zee mademoiselle and my special drug?”

“I’m interested.” Gabe narrowed his eyes. “But not in the manner of arrangement you suggest. I don’t want her drugged. When I bed a woman, especially this woman, I damn well want her to know it’s me taking her innocence and plowing the field.”

“Ahh, I see. You wish her taken hostage then and held in zee back room for a particular quality of sexual pleasure? That, of course, is much riskier, Mon Cher. With the lack of drugs to make things hazy in her mind, she’ll be able to identify you afterward. Once you are satisfied, cutting her throat for you and disposing of zee body, it will cost you extra.”

“You misunderstand, madame, I don’t want her taken hostage, either. I have no desire to rape her.”

“Qui. Of course, seduction is much sweeter.” She touched her fingertips to her lips and made a kissing sound, then cast her gaze at his crotch and smiled. “Obviously zee gentleman is infatuated? Soo…an accidental meeting then…for a lesser fee, perhaps? That will suffice? Qui?”

“She will dine with her fiancé at zee Creole Lisette Restaurant four blocks west of here in four hours. Perhaps I could arrange he does not keep zee dinner engagement?”

“Do you wish him beaten? Stabbed? Murdered?”

“Yes.” Gabe dragged his gaze away from the curtains and locked eyes with Madame LaRue. She grinned. Her lips curved with the suggestion of an unpleasant, most malicious leer he’d ever witnessed.

Welcome JoAnne Myers

Poetry CoverNever Give Up:
For as long as I can remember, I have had an artistic flare-whether that be for writing, painting, sewing or drawing. I recall as a child how much I enjoyed drawing. The writing came later. My seventh grade English teacher was Mrs. Henderson-a young mother and wife. She gave us a writing assignment and after gifting me with an A+ told me I should consider writing as a career. She meant as a journalist. I did not take her advise and become a journalist (one of my many misgivings). My mind went toward other things as many young girls dream of-a husband, home, and family of my own. I put my love for writing and painting on hold for years. I unfortunately married a man who like my mother never encouraged me to be artistic. It was not until my children were grown and I no longer had a husband, that I went back to my first love-art. It got a late start, but always encouraged my children and others to partake of artistic endeavers. I now have four book under contract with Melange Books, and three publishing houses vying for my biography true crime novel, “The Crime of the Century.” So my words to you all, is that no matter what road you choose, never forget your passion, and always keep it close to heart. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from enjoying your natural talents. You might need to put art on a temporary hold, but don’t ever, ever, give up.

Poem from “Poems About Life, Love, and Everything in Between”-
An old man with so little to do.
Says he’ll paint a picture or two.
All the beauty he sees, he wants to tell.
Using God’s given talent, he does it so well.
With brushes swift and eyes so keen.
He captures on canvas everything seen.
Walking slowly, never hurrying by.
He sees what missed by you and I.
The trees adorned in crimson and gold.
A lasting remembrance for all to behold.
Lilies graciously waving in the wind.
Never to look this way again.
Roses drenched by the morning dew.
His skillful hand claimed that too.
Water, both rushing and still.
Power the wheel at the old Logan mill.
Sprinkling glitter on the new fallen snow.
Touched by the sun’s warming glow.
The golden sunset, slowly slipping away.
Bidding good night to another glorious day.
If he ever saw any ugly and gray.
He sure never painted it that way.
His brushes were put down, one by one.
His final masterpiece at last was done.
The face of the painter I so often recall.
As I admire his pictures hanging on my wall.

“We got so busy living life that we forgot to live our dreams.”

Danni Lewis has been playing it safe for twenty-six years, but her sheltered existence is making her feel old ahead of time. When a sudden death plunges her into a spiral of grief, she throws caution to the wind and runs away to France in search of a new beginning.

The moment ski instructor Olivier du Pape enters her shattered world she falls hard, in more ways than one.

Their mutual desire is as powerful and seductive as the mountains around them. His dark gypsy looks and piercing blue eyes are irresistible.

Only she must resist, because he has a wife – and she’d made a pact to never get involved with a married man.

But how do you choose between keeping your word and being true to your soul?

Weak at the Knees is Jo’s debut novel in the new adult, contemporary romance genre – a story about love, loss and relationships, set between London and the heart of the French Alps.

NOTE: Weak at the Knees received a 4 out of 5 rating from the UK national paper The Sun!  The Sun newspaper is the UK’s most popular paper (2 million readers daily).

Teaser Excerpt:

I tilt my head into his hand as he strokes my left cheek. He brings his lips in to meet mine and our eyes close. We seal our adulterous pact with a slow, slightly trembling, pressing kiss. When we pull away we smile, then hug standing, bodies tight and swaying, squeezing the breath out of each other.

He prods me playfully, steering me in the direction of my bedroom. When we get there he stands really close, running his hands up and down my arms, then holding my waist and consuming me with his gaze as he pushes me down onto the bed so that I land with him lying on top of me. I love the way his long black eyelashes curl at the ends, flickering. The way his nostrils flare ever so slightly when he inhales. The way his black mop flops forward, giving him a boyish look. We start kissing deeper and more urgently, gliding hands over each others’ bodies, one by one discarding each item of clothing, tossing them carelessly in the air, until we’re lying there completely naked, his flesh on mine. My body is one big tingle. No sooner than his hands gently glide over one part of my frame, my left breast, my right breast, my stomach, in between my legs, than the whole rest of me aches to be touched and not left out. His body is perfect, in its natural, lithe, muscular toning and in the texture of his skin, smooth and soft. His body is perfect in the way it fits on top of mine, meets mine and complements mine. I love feeling him, touching him, watching his eyes close dreamily when I stroke his back or kiss his neck. We take our time, everything in slow motion, taking pleasure in the contours of each others’ bodies.

About the Author

When Jo was ten years old she wrote a short story about losing a loved one. Her mother and big sister were so moved by the tale that it made them cry. Having reduced them to tears she vowed that the next time she wrote a story it would make them smile instead. Happily she succeeded and with this success grew an addiction for wanting to reach out and touch people with words. Jo lives in London with her husband and three children where she works as a TV and print journalist. She tells life stories and can often be found travelling the globe researching the next big holiday hotspots for readers to enjoy. Since becoming a mother anything even remotely sad makes her cry. She’s a sucker for a good romance and tear-jerker movies are the worst. She’s that woman in the cinema, struggling to muffle audible wails as everyone else turns round to stare.

P.S Jo’s pretty certain one of her daughters has inherited this gene.

“God, you feel so amazing in my arms. I wish you could come with me.”

Eyes closed, she nodded. “I can’t. I’m sorry.” Opening her eyes, she gazed at him. “Once the editing is finished, I need to get away from all this. I can’t deal with it any longer. And you know my dad’s having hip surgery. I need to help my mom.”

Shifting his stance, he slid his hands over the globes of her ass, urging her closer. “I know, babe. It’s okay. I won’t be gone long.”

She dug her fingers into the hair at the nape of his neck. “Nine months seems likes forever. You won’t forget me will you?”

A moan erupted from his throat as he dipped his head and latched his mouth onto hers. She savored him in her arms, revelling in his tongue dancing with hers. Passion, yearning, hunger, it was all there in his kiss.

Flexing his hips, Josh shifted his shaft to fit in the V between her legs. She gasped, her head falling back. Josh kissed his way down her neck, nibbling, biting, and driving the temperature a million times higher. She wanted to succumb to him now, to finally make love to him, but they couldn’t risk being caught.

He hauled her tighter, holding her so close she could barely breathe. But Sunday didn’t care. All she would ever need was this man in her arms. Feeling him against her, his body fevered against hers—nothing else mattered.

Josh lifted his head, his forest green eyes bore into hers. She could drown in his loving and hungry gaze. He knew her better than anyone else. While filming, they’d enjoyed so many secreted-away moments, revealing hopes and dreams and shared childhood stories imparting laughter. He was everything she’d ever need. And she couldn’t wait to tell the world.

But they couldn’t. Not yet.

“I know my leaving, since filming of my next movie is starting sooner, throws a kink in what we’d planned, but I promise, babe, I’ll be back as fast as I can. I’d rather be with you, starting our journey toward what I think will be a great future together. If I had any other choice—”

Understanding about commitments and responsibility, she covered his lips with her hand. “I know. It’s okay. We have time. We do. I’ll be waiting for you.”

He sighed. “I love you more than anything else.” He caressed her face. “I’ve waited so long for you already, it’ll be hell, but I know it will be worth it. Especially when we’re far away from prying eyes.”

She smiled, her heart booming with happiness. “And I love you.”

His cell phone vibrated. He yanked it from his pocket and groaned. “Damn, I have to go. They’re looking for me. Our flight leaves in forty-five.” His lips captured hers.

She poured all the love, hope, and belief of their relationship into the kiss. He had to come back. She couldn’t live without him now.

“I miss you already,” Josh whispered when he stepped back. His gaze travelled over her face as if memorizing every facet. Then he leaned down for his duffel bag. Straightening, he said, “I love you, Sunni.”

Tears in her eyes, she watched him walk toward the door. “I love you.”

He stared at her from across the room. Sunday wanted to rush over, wrap her arms around him and beg him not to go. But she couldn’t do that. She loved how dedicated and honest he was. There was no way she’d ever ask him to break his word.

With a last long, deep breath, he turned the door handle then exited the trailer. Feeling alone already, she sat in the vanity chair and gazed into the mirror. The love of her life had just walked out the door for war-torn Afghanistan. She worried for his safety but knew his people and the movie company would keep him safe while filming. All she could do was hold the love she had for him in her heart, and wait.

Title: Darlene

Author name: David Russell
Publisher: Extasy
Genre: Contemporary Romance
The hero, Percival arranges a date through a contact mag. He and Darlene have a rapturous scenario, handled with superb finesse and supreme command of the wardrobe. He finds some hints of her complicated past. Before and after the encounter, he is eyed up and accosted by malicious-seeming men. The sense of an underlying hornet’s nest is scary, and immediately detracts from the euphoria, which does finally prevail.
Teaser Excerpt:

I envisaged Darlene dressing before her mirror, adoring her own image, caressing her thighs as she drew up her stockings, loving her own image in the mirror, savouring her own fully charged magnetism. I imagined delicious dressing in preparation for delicious undressing – perhaps some feeling in her bones that I might be someone out of the ordinary, or even an additional bonus of doing it with another woman before my eyes.

I, in turn, practiced disrobing in front of my mirror, in subdued light, capturing all the alluring angles, savouring myself under the dream spell of her implicit eyes. I sensed the bleeps of telepathy in operation between us—laser-beamed gazes and breaths of rapture.

I spiced my sensations with my favourite videos. Katy Perry’s Thinking of You and Teenage Dream came to the fore, those graceful balletic of revelation, pulling on the stockings, pulling off the jeans, my hands all over that lithe, tanned form. I washed, ironed, and immersed myself into putting on and taking off all the items in my wardrobe. I even had some limbering up chats on the phone – some alluring voices there, even more magical for their anonymity and their covert location. Those blind rehearsals sharpened the visual and tactile imagination. Some aspects suit complete darkness, others suit subdued light. Maybe at some point, there will be a home video, capturing idyllic trysts indoors and outdoors, two lovers willing themselves into dream perfection…great art is often a substitute or reminder for experience. How much more fulfilling when it is an accompaniment or a backdrop

Welcome Karenna Colcroft

TrytheTofu_200 (2)

Hi and welcome to my blog, Karenna. Please make yourself at home and grab a drink from my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake.

To get us started can you tell us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?

My most recent release was Try the Tofu, book 5 in my M/M paranormal series Real Werewolves Don’t Eat Meat. It was released August 1, and is a bit of a change from the previous books both in tone (it’s darker) and in narrator; all the previous books were narrated by the world’s only vegan werewolf, Kyle Slidell, but by reader request, Try the Tofu is narrated by Kyle’s mate (and alpha) Tobias Rogan. My next scheduled release won’t be until December of this year, and I’m currently taking a short break from writing while I work out some career things, so I don’t have a work in progress at the moment.
Do you have any guilty pleasures?

I love the TV series Degrassi, which is essentially a soap opera for teenagers. I also confess to watching Dance Moms.

If we asked your muse to describe you using five words, what do you think they would say?

Complicated, stubborn, annoying, fun, imaginative

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.

As recently as 2006, I couldn’t say the word “sex” without cringing, let alone write about it.
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’d probably stay in the Boston, Massachusetts area (where I currently live), but I want to live on a houseboat.

If someone hasn’t read any of your work, what book would you recommend that they start with and why?

If they’re interested in male/male romance, I would recommend they start with Salad on the Side, the first book in Real Werewolves Don’t Eat Meat, because I think it’s one of my more unique books and one of the ones I most enjoyed writing.

Are your characters able to love or do they need to be taught?

I wouldn’t say any of my characters need to be taught how to love, but many of them need to learn to open themselves up to the possibility and to let go of the past to embrace what’s being offered. Hence my tagline, “Open your heart.”

What can readers expect next from you?

My next scheduled release is due out in December. Whatever He Wants will be released from Ellora’s Cave as part of their “Boys Will Do Boys” series and is a male/male contemporary romance about a “player” who gets played and falls in love in the process. At the time of this writing, I have three projects under consideration at different publishers, but I’d rather not say much about those since I’m waiting for initial responses. I have a few projects planned to write as soon as I finish the career planning stuff I’m working on; I’m transitioning from having a part-time income-earning job in addition to writing to doing only the writing, so I have a few things to get organized and settled before I dive into the next project.

Thanks for coming. Is there anything else you want to add?

Thanks for having me! And thanks to Zeke and Jake for keeping me well-hydrated and entertained during the interview. (Those abs… dang!)

Blurb for Try the Tofu:
As he and his mate Kyle Slidell prepare to travel to Pennsylvania for the twice-yearly regional Alpha gathering, Tobias Rogan knows something will go wrong. His fears are proven correct when a visiting werewolf from another region challenges Arkhon Zane Wolfskin for leadership of the Northeast–and wins.

Tobias and his allies learn the challenge was part of a larger plan to destroy their region, and Tobias will not allow it to happen. But can he defeat the new Arkhon and take charge of the region himself?

Javier looked around the circle at the stony faces of all the alphas. None of them met his gaze, and none gave any indication they would be pleased about filling the role. He swallowed hard and faced me again. “I give my challenger the right to choose.”

A ripple of sound ran through the alphas, but they quieted almost immediately. Javier should have chosen his proxy, but he didn’t know whom among the alphas he could trust. Still, his passing the choice to me would be seen as another show of weakness on his part.

I had to win this fight. No matter what it took, and no matter how hard the Anax tried to prevent it, I had to win.

“I choose Christian Brown, Alpha of Easternmost Pack, to give the signal and ensure the fight runs to protocol,” I said, loudly and clearly so there would be no mistake.

Christian was behind me, so I missed the expression on his face. His tone gave away his astonishment. “I accept the role you have given me, Tobias.”

I managed not to sigh with relief. Whatever Christian decided as proxy, the other alphas would be unlikely to argue. Christian was vocal and abrasive about those he disliked, so it was no secret he didn’t approve of me or of Javier. He was probably the least biased person present.

“I accept Christian Brown as moderator and proxy,” Javier said slowly.

Christian came up beside us. He looked at me with a question in his gaze, and I looked back with what I hoped was complete neutrality. I couldn’t risk giving anything away.

He hesitated. “Shift and wait for my signal to begin.”

Javier and I removed our clothing and began the process of going wolf. I hated shifting, but I had trained myself well. Taking wolf form hurt like hell, but I’d learned not to let the pain get to me too much. As alpha, I couldn’t afford much recovery time after a shift. As challenger in this fight, I could afford even less.

In my white-furred form, I stood and faced my enemy. He had not yet completed his shift, and his pain was evident and appealing. I smelled blood and fear and forced myself to be still. I could not attack until word was given.

But I would taste my enemy’s blood. He was weaker and more frightened, and he could not defeat me.

Finally he stood before me, fully wolf except the too-human panic racing through his mind. That I felt that emotion from him didn’t surprise me. He was Arkhon, in name if not power, and a bond existed though he had not solidified it as he should have.

I looked at the human-shaped alpha beside me. On his word, I would kill the enemy or die in the attempt. My legs twitched as I held myself back from the fight. I didn’t want to wait. I wanted to kill.

“Begin,” the human said.

Despite my desire to fight, I held back, waiting for my enemy to make the first move. He did the same, and I smelled confusion. I had challenged, and he didn’t understand why I wasn’t acting on it.

Finally he came for me.

I let him knock me to the ground but rolled us so I had him pinned. Reaching along my bonds to mate and pack, I drew as much strength as I was able. The enemy struggled and managed to shake free, but his next move, a bite aimed at my bad leg, merely gave me another opportunity to take him down.

From somewhere, he, too, pulled strength and continued fighting. Blood flew and I was dimly aware of pain in my chest and bad leg. I tasted blood without being fully aware of where my teeth had landed on his body.

A sudden desire hit me to lie down. To end the fight now before I was hurt. I was no ruler. I should give up and let Javier take the win.

I obeyed for only a moment or two. Urgency surged along my mate bond and I remembered what Kyle had told me. I didn’t have to obey anyone. I was strong and powerful, and the only one I had to obey was myself.
