Hi and welcome to my blog, Robert Birch. Please make yourself at home and grab a drink from my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake.
Thank you, I will.
To get us started can you tell us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?
I have submitted the manuscript for a novella titled REKINDLED DESIRE. I am a 77 year old retired psychologist with a specialty in marital and sex therapist, and this is my third book directed toward the aging population. My message is, it’s never too late.
I also have a erotic-romance sci fi novel sitting on my publisher’s desk.SEX IS HER SPECIALTY is the story of a sex therapist who must travel to a parallel dimension to rescue a colleague who has been abducted by a sex cartel. That dimension is very prudish, and wealthy men will pay to have attractive sexually-responsive women identified and transported through the portal against their will. Of course, a handsome young man accompanies her on this mission that, given her specialty, gives rise to some humorous situations.
Is there something special you do to celebrate when one of your books is released?
No, I just smile a lot and get it posted on each of my three web sites.
What influenced you to get published? How long did it take for your first book to get published?
While I was in clinical practice I wrote six instructional books on sexual topics. Back then I paid a local printing company to print my books, but had to buy a large number to keep the price per book reasonable. Once I retired and began writing fiction I wanted to find a publisher. The first one I chose, Carnal Desires Publishing, readily accept my first book.
Do you have a book that was easiest to write or one that was the hardest?
My first novel, SETTLING THE SCORE, was the hardest, and took me a year to complete. It involved a number of characters, a lot of back story and a very complex murder mystery. As it turns out, this 400 page novel has received the most accolades of all my books. The easiest book was MARGARET’S DIARY, an erotic ghost story with a mystery theme. I had a lot of fun writing this one.
Could you tell us a couple of favorite books that inspired you to write?
During over ten years of college education, I basically read academic and clinical books. When I began writing, I was still in clinical practice and my books were non-fiction. My first informational (illustrated) book was ORAL CARESS, instructions of sensual cunnilingus. Before I paid to have it printed, I wrote to a fellow author/sexologist and ask her if she would review my work. She wrote back saying, “I write books, I don’t read them.” I now have to make the same statement when asked about books I’ve read. I am too busy writing.
Is music a factor for you while you are writing? Do certain songs put you in the right frame of mind to write certain stories?
No, I work best in silence. I find myself identifying with my characters, and might actually tear up writing a particularly sad scene. When not writing, I will typically listen to music from the fifties – the songs I grew up with. In my old age I’ve become very sentimental.
What is the strangest source of writing inspiration you’ve ever had?
To be honest, I have never been struck with a bolt of lightning and felt compelled to get something down on paper. I start without an outline, and typically without knowing how the story will unfold. I have often said I start and let the characters tell me where to go next. They have taken me into some very interesting situations, but have always shown me the way out.
If your muse were to talk behind your back, what secrets would they tell?
That I am prolific and imaginative, but a terrible speller and totally confused about when to use commas.
Other than writing, what are some of your passions in life?
Cuddling with my wife, playing with our grandkids and loving on our three dogs and two cats. I have retired to a rural area and enjoy walking the wooded trails.
What can readers expect next from you?
Watch for the novel in which the main character is a sex therapist. SEX IS HER SPECIALTY. This is not a sex therapy manual, it is an erotic romance sci fi tale . A novella to watch for is REKINDLED DESIRE, an erotic romance involving characters in their seventies.
I have begun what could become my fifteenth novel, but my characters have not been very talkative.

Synopsis: I’M AT YOUR SERVICE
Karen is a beautiful 23 year old woman who became an escort after leaving her country home and moving to the city. She chose the profession because she loves sex and has the creative ability to offer a wide range of services to a wide range of clients. Although reminding herself that she should never become emotionally attracted to a client, she develops feelings for a man she knows as Steve. He is an expert at giving the expert pleasure, so she always schedules him at the end of the day when she needs sexual fulfillment.
Karen is shocked when she is contacted by a homicide detective and told the man’s name is not Steve and he is thought to have been stabbed and throw off a bridge. She’s even more surprised when Steve, who is very much alive, calls her and identifies himself a Howard, an FBI agent. She’s angry when she learns he had come to her on assignment.
There’s something going on in the city that is resulting in the destruction of federal property and the death of federal employees. This is a case in which Howard is involved and there are reasons for him not to trust the police. Karen’s not sure who to believe, but is emotionally hooked on Howard. Against his advice, she involves herself in the investigation, putting herself at risk. Her sights are on Howard, but can a professional sex worker capture the heart of a handsome FBI agent?
A FIVE STAR REVIEW ON AMAZON.COM ENDS WITH:
Not for the squeamish or sexually shy, the story as a whole is vastly entertaining. The author has an imagination that knows no bounds, and plotting skills enough for ten writers!
371 WORD X-RATED EXCERPT
Karen quickly stripped and Howard was soon naked as well. He took her in his strong arms and their lips met. Karen’s open mouth invited in Howie’s tongue. He probed and then pulled back slightly. “You taste like cheddar cheese,” he said, but then again pressed his lips to hers and their tongues wrestled. Karen felt his cock begin to pulsate and swell, causing her to purr. “That’s my Kitty,” he said as he lifted her and placed her in the center of the bed. He moved then to her feet and spread her legs wide open. She offered no resistance, for she loved how he would visually admire her cunt. She was feeling excited and knew she was deliciously wet. Her pussy muscles throbbed as though calling out to Howard’s cock. He pulled down her skimpy thong. “You’re beautiful.” Howie was wide-eyed as he gazed at her moist twat. Hunger showed in his eyes.
Karen grinned. “To you I’m just a warm wet coochie.”
“Oh, no, Karen. You’re a very beautiful woman and I love every inch of you.”
Karen’s heart fluttered. “What did you say?”
“Oops, I hope I didn’t mess things up. What I said was I love all of you, and have for a while. Please don’t let my feelings turn you off.”
“Quite the opposite, Howie. I love you too and that’s even before I screw you silly, which I intend to do. An escort shouldn’t fall in love with a client, but I couldn’t stop myself. I love your sensitivity and sense of humor, as well as your sexual expertise.”
“And now I want to eat the woman I love, and that’s no joke.” He moved up, drew in a deep breath of her aroma and began licking between her delicate lips. His tongue moved up onto her clitoris that firmed as her excitement escalated.
“Mmmm,” Karen moaned. “I love you and I love that talented tongue of yours.” Her eyes were closed and, as his tongue flicked the tip of her pleasure bud, her breathing became shallow. She felt her body begin to tense, and as her mind was saying stop, her body was saying full steam ahead. Her fingers clenched the bed sheet.
