Hi and welcome to my blog, Tara Chevrestt. Please make yourself at home and grab a drink from my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake. So tell us a little about yourself.
So tell us a little about your latest book. What inspired this masterpiece?
My life. People kept telling me I should tell some of my stories. Maybe someone will read them and realize they do the same hurtful things to other handicapped people.
If you had any super powers, what would they be and why?
The ability to read minds. Or…brainwash them. But then, I wouldn’t have anyone to argue with anymore. LOL
What genre haven’t you tried yet but want to in the future?
I’m intimidated by mystery. I’d like to attempt it but not sure I can keep all the facts straight.
What is one thing readers might be surprised to know about you?
I discuss story lines and plots with my pug.
If we asked your muse to describe you in three words, what do you think they might say?
Stubborn, opinionated, determined.
What authors can be found in your library of books?
Catherine Cookson. Victoria Hislop. Christina Courtenay. Bev Pettersen. Lorraine Nelson
Have any guilty pleasures you want to share with us?
Love wine and though I can’t hear them anymore really, I like to watch music videos.
Is there anything you’re currently working on that you can give us a taste of?
Currently writing a f/f political thriller with Kelly Yeakle. It’s hot. J
What is your favorite way to relax after a hard day working and writing?
A glass of wine and a book…not mine!
What is one historical figure you would love to chat with and why?
Amelia Earhart. What happened to her? Did she disappear on purpose? Was she tired of the greedy public? Tired of trying to inspire others? Or was it foul play?
Would you care to mention any upcoming or WIP projects that readers can look forward from you in the future?
I have a lady zorro type historical fiction coming out July 13th from Ruby Lioness Press. It’s called A Maiden Behind the Mask. Very excited about it. Got to toss in lots of Spanish words.
Out of all your books, do you have a favorite one? If not, then which one is closest to your heart?
Dog Tails cause it’s about my pampered pooches.
Thanks for coming. Is there anything else you want to add?
I hope everyone who takes the time to read my memoir walks away having learned something.
Deaf Isn’t Dumb by Tara Chevrestt
You’re stupid. You’re retarded. You shouldn’t have this job. These words lit a fire of determination in one deaf woman who set out to prove to the aviation world…and the world in general that deaf isn’t dumb.
Deaf Isn’t Dumb is a motivational story of a young woman, Tara, who faces the challenges of growing up “hearing impaired” in a hearing world. Follow her as she recounts everything from childhood bullies to work related restrictions, and funny misunderstandings from mispronounced words to fear of Federal Air Marshals. In this tale, straight from the heart, learn that simply because one is deaf—contrary to popular misconception—it doesn’t mean they are dumb.
A Facebook Affair by Tara Chevrestt
When Kelly and Brandon rediscover each other on Facebook after twenty years apart, it sparks an attraction that even distance can’t extinguish. Do they truly have a future, or is this just a Facebook affair?
Kelly Littleton takes the plunge and finally joins Facebook to socialize without the limits that her hearing impairment gives her. On a whim, she looks up a childhood friend. In sending him that first message, she ignites the memories of a crush from twenty years ago. But will they turn into the flames of romance, or end up the ashes of a Facebook affair?
Brandon Hopkins has a lot on his plate. A recent divorce, a pregnant sister, and now, he realizes he’s in love with a woman who lives states away. Can he overcome the boundaries of internet romance to make this desire turn into something real, or will adversity and distance be their undoing?
