Welcome Daisy Dunn today

Hi and welcome to my blog, Daisy Dunn to my blog today. Please make yourself at home and grab a drink from my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake.  So tell us a little about yourself.

Q: What genre do you write and for what publisher(s)?

Oh, sorry, I was distracted by your cabana boys…Yes, well, I write mainly paranormal, but have also written fantasy, contemporary and cougar. I am with Secret Cravings Publishing. They are amazing.

Q: Tell us about your latest/upcoming release. What inspired it?

My latest and debut release is called The Portal. It just came out Sept. 2/11. It’s about a scientist who has created a portal to an alternate universe and has become a guard to the ruling queen in that world. The woman he has been madly in love with has stumbled through the portal and is a prisoner to the queen. He must save his true love from the queen’s lusty hands, escape the alternate universe, and make her fall in love with him.

Q: How do you build characters and their personalities and looks?

The characters just came to me, and as the story progressed, their personalities came out on their own. I was just the vessel typing the story.

Q: Tell me about some of your heroes/heroines:

Cole is the hero in The Portal. He chased after Gianna for a year, until she finally pushed him away. She is ten years older than him and she is horrified by their age difference. Five years pass and when she sees him again, he has grown up and looks more like a man at 29 years of age. Gianna has always had feelings for Cole, so it crushed her to push him away, but she thought it was for his own good.

Q: What do you do when the muse decides to take a holiday or become really difficult? How do you try to coax them/she/it/he back to the drawing board?

First thing I do is try not to force anything. I stop, relax and allow my imagination to run wild for a few days. So far, the muse has always come back.

Q: Do you have any specific things (or rituals) that help you to write or that inspire you?

The most inspiring place I go to is the tanning salon (not the healthiest). I lie in the tanning bed and the stories just fill my mind in the peaceful, warm cocoon. Then, I go home and write like a fiend!!

Q: If the world was to end tomorrow, what three things would be on your bucket list?

I really only have one wish for that short of time…see if death by chocolate is really true J

Q: Are there any authors who have influenced your work?

There are three:

  1. Christine Feehan – Her writing introduced me to my love of paranormal romance.
  2. Charlene Teglia – Her erotic writing inspired me to write.
  3. Lacie Nation – We have critiqued each other’s books and she has been so helpful in the writing process. She is an amazing new author that has a real grasp at bringing out intense emotions in her writing.

Q: What comes first for you: Setting? Storyline? Characters?

Story line comes first. Then I picture the characters that would best suit this kind of story. Once those are in place, I decide where it’s going to take place.

Q: If one of your books became a movie, which celebrity would you like to star as your main characters?

Cole would be played by Thomas Jane.

Gianna would be played by Diane Lane.

Wow, even there names work together!!

Q: What do you have coming next? Anything you want to tell us?

I have a full length novel coming out Oct. 11/11. It’s called Hunger’s Prey (Book One in my Hunger Series). It’s a paranormal vampire erotic romance. It’s about a vampire warrior who has been entombed in the earth for decades to heal from a vicious and brutal attack. He wakes up a year before his body is ready to leave the ground and she comes to him as a vision. When he finally rises from the ground, he must find this woman who has haunted his thoughts and make her his own.

Book Two in this series, Hunger’s Desire, comes out in January 2011. If you like the first book, you don’t have to wait long for the next.

Q: If you came with a warning label, what would it say?

A little bit sweet, a little bit spicy, and a whole lot of naughty. Approach at your own risk.

Q: What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?

I write various genres of erotic romance and I’m hoping to add ménage, western, and time travel some time in the near future.

I’m also working on book two of The Portal called “The Sinful Portal”.

Q: Where can we find you on the web?

THE PORTAL

Blurb:

Cole Evans has been in love with Gianna Thomas from the first
moment he laid eyes on her when he was a student at the University.
He pursued her relentlessly, but Gianna would not date him because
of their ten year age difference. She broke his heart when she pushed
him away for good, afraid to be known as a Cougar.

Five years later, Cole is now twenty-nine years old and is ready to fight
for Gianna. Before he does, he takes one more trip through the portal
he created into the alternate universe he has stumbled across. He has
been chosen as a guard for the ruling queen of this world and is
shocked when he sees that one of the prisoners is Gianna. He needs
to get her out of this place, away from the hungry gaze of the queen
and into his arms once and for all.
