Welcome DC Juris

Art Imitating Life by DC Juris

Hi folks! DC Juris here. I’ll be your guest host for today. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a transgender fella who writes GLBTQ and heterosexual romance, but mostly m/m.

For today’s prompt, and because I’m generally crappy at coming up with things to blog about, I asked my Facebook friends what they want to know. My good friend, and fellow m/m romance writer, Ellis Carrington came up with six questions—here’s one of them: What inspired your latest story?

My latest release from Breathless Press is a little tale called “Relearning the Ropes.” On the outside, it looks just like any other BDSM story. Guy meets guy, guys have similar interests, guys think each other are hot, guys end up in bed. But the story is really about healing, and is loosely based on a gay couple who actually exist.

Things didn’t unfold quite the same as in my story, but a Dom friend of mine found himself drastically attracted to and in love with a submissive man unlike any he’d ever encountered. My friend—let’s call him Hot Dom (because OMG he is)—was used to the play scene; he’d go to clubs, meet up with people he knew in seedy back rooms, have a little fun, and head home. He’d never actually mixed business with pleasure, so to speak, and played with anyone he had feelings for.

Well then along came this needy little sub, one of those folks you just want to hug and put in your pocket and keep safe. Everyone reacts to him that way—even bewildered straight guys end up rescuing him. We’ll call him Sweet Sub. So, one day Hot Dom and Sweet Sub meet. They have a lot in common, and there’s an instant attraction. Couple years go by, and Hot Dom calls me up in the middle of the night, and this happens:

Him: (no hello, or anything) “Have you ever heard this song “Shameless” by Garth Brooks?”

Me: (grumbling something about him being an asshole) “Um…yeah. It’s a Billy Joel song, really. Why?”

Him: “That’s Sweet Sub. That’s him. That’s how I feel about him.”

Me: “Um…and?”

Him: “What do I do about this? I can’t Dom someone I love.”

Me: “Why not?”

Him: (silence)

Me: “Listen, he likes you as much as you like him, he’s said so. So, just call him up…not now…maybe, you know, after the sun rises, and talk to him. Tell him you’ve never done the whole Dom-in-love-thing, but you want to. You know. Dom him. Isn’t that what you do, after all?”

Him: “Sometimes I hate you.”

Me: “Meh. You can spank me next weekend for it.”

At which point, he hung up, and I turned on the TV. I don’t go back to sleep easily. But it got me thinking, this could be a really good story. And viola—”Relearning the Ropes” was born. And you know, I never did get my spanking!

Welcome Trinity Blancio/Contest

Give a warm welcome to the lovely and talented Trinity Blancio and her alter ego author names, Maria Moonstar & Selene Noreen.

CONTEST INFORMATION: Please leave a comment for Trinity or one of her other author names and be entered to win a $10 gift Certificate to All Romance Ebookstore. Contest will end Saturday Oct. 1st with the winner to be announced in the comments of this post.

Thank you very much for having me Raine and I must say the cabana boys are a very nice distraction. I’ll take a strawberry daiquiri please. Let’s see where I shall begin. I live in a small town where I was actually born, Elyria, Ohio. I came back here to live about twenty five years ago with my mom and sister.

When the kids are eighteen I plan to move, don’t know if it will be out of Ohio, but Elyria is not a place I want to stay. I was raised in larger cities most of life, Detroit, Southfield, Torrance and so on. I love the life of the city and Elyria just does not do it for me anymore. I once dreamed of owning a home, but now with the economy, give me a nice apartment with a small back porch and I’m happy. Don’t have to worry about the entire BS with owning a home.

Q: What genre do you write and for what publisher(s)?

I have a tendency to write more of your dark erotic. I love writing Menage, BDSM aspects. Publishers I have many and write under three names. Trinity Blacio is my main pen name, yes pen name. I was going to use my real name, but there is a famous soccer player in England with that name and I didn’t think she would appreciate being associated with Erotic stories.

Trinity has most of her work at Ravenous Romance who has been wonderful! I plan to write for them for a long time hopefully. I also have a short story at Freya Bower’s in an anthology. It was my first attempt at Sweet Romance and my last, too hard to write.

My second pen name is Maria MoonStar. I am published with her at Dreamspinner, Silver Publishing, and Decadent. I have a series at Decadent and one at Silver if I can ever get book two out.

The third pen name is Selene Noreen, but I’m slowly ending Selene’s existence. I can barely handle the two let alone three pen names, but her books are at Freya’s Bower, and Breathless Press.

Q: Tell us about your latest/upcoming release. What inspired it?

I have a short Halloween coming out soon with Azura Ice and Stella Price. My story is a continuation from another short I did this summer: Summer of the Beast, it’s a Gargoyle story and of course with multiple partners also. The Halloween anthology should be a good one.

Q: How do you build characters and their personalities and looks?

Most of my characters are very strong in their personalities, the females might at first look like they are push overs, but in reality each of them are individuals I could become friends with easily.  Where of course my men have to be all alpha men, I’m sorry, but I just can’t get into a man with no balls so to speak. I want a hunk, who can pick me up and carry me where ever he wants too. So writing my characters is a breeze the problem comes when they won’t shut up and I can’t type fast enough. As far as looks go, once I know the name of the character and the setting of the story I can visualize the characters in my head. I don’t need pictures.

Q: Tell me about some of your heroes/heroines.

Right now my favorite would have to be Suzanne and Dominic in book five, Dragon’s Den. I made Suzanne so much like me it’s scary. She even carries my real name. Dominic is the man I would love to have standing beside me. Someone always protecting, knowing what I need and willing to do whatever it takes to get it done.

Most of the female characters in the Running In Fear series crave the alpha man, but yet in their way each female has her men wrapped around her finger. All she would have to do is wish for something and it would be there, but the same can be said about the men also. The woman would do anything for their men, they might have fallen hard and fast, but once they do no one will tear them apart.

Q: What do you do when the muse decides to take a holiday or become really difficult? How do you try to coax them back to the drawing board?

Going through that right now, book six is being a real pain in my butt, but I will have it done by this week and sent to my editor. Usually I will have another story going that I can work on or I’ll start another story, a short one, to just completely forget the other one for a little while. Usually when I go back to it I can pick up where I left off.

Q: Do you have any specific things (or rituals) that help you to write or that inspire you?

I have found it is easier for me to write when I have either music going. Don’t get me wrong I like my quiet time especially with kids around. The constant pestering from them can drive me up a wall and I don’t get anything done. My favorite to write with no is Burlesque with Cher and Christine Aguilera. I can listen to that CD non-stop.

Q: If the world was to end tomorrow, what three things would be on your bucket list?

Umm that is hard. One would be to spend time with my kids. Two would be to find two hunky men and have a ménage. I’ve dreamed and written it so much why not try it. Three would be with my friends the ones that always stood by me.

Q: Are there any authors who have influenced your work?

There are plenty of authors, but the main two would have to be Lori Perkins and Faith Bicknel-Brown. Both of them have guided me and stood beside me in everything I’ve done.

Q: What comes first for you: Setting? Storyline? Characters?

Storyline comes first then the characters and the settings.

Q: If one of your books became a movie, which celebrity would you like to star as your main characters?

For Dragon’s Den I would want Angelina Joline, amazing woman, strong and beautiful. For men I would have Vin Diesal, Marlon Brando (if he was still alive), Brad Pitt, Gerard Butler.

Q: What do you have coming next? Anything you want to tell us?

To finish up the year I have a few projects I want to get out of the way. I have book six for the series, plus a Christmas story for the series. Another Christmas story related to my story, the Naughty Angel and Her three Wise Men, and I would like to get book two done for Declaration for Maria. My fans have been asking nonstop about that.

Q: If you came with a warning label, what would it say?

This would be easy. Tell me the truth I don’t care if it hurts, but if you lie to me I’ll never trust you again. As you can tell I’ve been lied to, too many times.

Q: What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?

That I will never stop and I have ideas for at least three other series that are in the works.

Welcome Sam Crescent today

Hi and welcome to my blog, Sam Crescent. Please make yourself at home and grab a drink from my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake.  So tell us a little about yourself.

Thank you for having me here Raine, it is a pleasure and I hope other enjoy our interview.

Q: What genre do you write and for what publisher(s)?

I currently write erotic romance but I’ve also delved into the vampire/ paranormal erotic romance of late and been working on a series. I’m with Secret Cravings Publishing, Rebel Ink Press and Total-E-Bound. Three amazing publishers.

Q: Tell us about your latest/upcoming release. What inspired it?

My first release with Secret Cravings Publishing is A Wild Older Woman and is a contemporary cougar story part of their Hot Flash Line. Don’t you think the cover is fantastic. I love it lol. Anyway, the story is about an older woman Karen Wild who has been unlucky in love and been been divorced from a complete jerk, her ego is down and then enters Nick Marshall. I love Nick, the way he deals with Karen, bringing her out of her shell. I don’t want to spoil too much of it as it is only a short novella.

I have no idea what inspired the story, I wrote it a while back and it was my sister who encouraged me to continue with this story trying to get it published.

Q: How do you build characters and their personalities and looks?

I have no idea, I must be the worst writer on record lol. I just go with what comes to mind and I build their characters around what I feel they need, what will compliment the. How I see them in my mind is how I deal with their looks. I don’t try to change anything as I want them to be as natural as possible.

Q: Tell me about some of your heroes/heroines:

I love strong dominant men in my stories. Guys who know what they want and go for it regardless of the consequences but can also say I love you without fear. Heroines, depending on the hero can be a mixture from vulnerable with the need for protection to a woman who is confident and would cut a guys balls off if they so much as tried telling her what to do. Within writing I think it depends on the story as to how they fit into their own role.

Q: What do you do when the muse decides to take a holiday or become really difficult? How do you try to coax them back to the drawing board?

When the muse refuses to play I go into my kitchen and bake or cook. I’ve found that as my mind wanders and relaxes into my cooking, the muse will pop up. It’s quite funny trying to stir a sauce while making notes and trying not to get mess everywhere.

Q: Do you have any specific things (or rituals) that help you to write or that inspire you?

Mostly I try and relax and picture my book more as a movie. How I would like it to start. You know, what would grasp me not only as a writer to make me go on writing but also as a reader. I was a reader long before I started to write and I feel this has helped me.

Q: If the world was to end tomorrow, what three things would be on your bucket list?

Visit America, I don’t have any other points, what would be on your bucket list?

Q: Are there any authors who have influenced your work?

I wouldn’t say they’ve influenced what I write or how I write it but I’ve found certain authors have really touched me with there work and I would love to one day touch another reader in the same way.

Q: What comes first for you: Setting? Storyline? Characters?

Characters all the time. Without those beauties the story is pointless. I need the main characters to start the process rolling, the questions of, how did they meet? What is going on? Do they even like each other? start rolling and then I can start delving into the meat of their story.

Q: If one of your books became a movie, which celebrity would you like to star as your main characters?

Leonardo Dicaprio. I love him 🙂

Q: What do you have coming next? Anything you want to tell us?

I have so much coming next. Been a lot of edits going on. The rest of this year is stories with Rebel Ink and Secret Cravings.

Secret Cravings= Another hot flash story and this story is sort of the sequel to Karen’s story in A Wild Older Woman as it is Diane’s story. The very outspoken best friend.

Rebel Ink Press = October is a big month, I have an anthology out with a bunch of amazing rebel writers. Claw Marks is another short story with a cougar. Mine is titled, Tempting Research.

Clifford Arbor: The Seduction of Raven Peters is also released. Clifford Arbor is a fictional town where menage couples are the norm. Loved writing it and I’m writing the second.

Q: If you came with a warning label, what would it say?

I have no idea. I’m scared to even think what I would come labelled as lol.

Q: What else would you like readers to know about you or your work?

I don’t know what they would like to know about me lol, I’ll wait until I’m asked and then answer as best as I can. I love romance and I will always add that element into my stories.

A Wild Older Woman by Sam Crescent

Secret Cravings Publishing

Do younger men treat a woman better? At least that is what Karen Wild is about to find out. This forty years old, divorced mother of two children is about to find out what being a cougar is all about.  She believed she could battle anything that came her way…that is until Nick Marshall entered her life.

She never anticipated Nick, thirteen years her junior, being interested in her. He’s hot and he wants Karen all to himself.

Join this cougar as she learns to accept her sexuality and finally learns what it means to love and how a younger man can melt the years away.

Karen heard Nick move over her. “You taste amazing, gorgeous. The nicest pussy I’ve ever eaten.” Her heart fluttered. Never had Derek complimented her during sex, what a revelation this experience was becoming. She gasped watching Nick lick her essence from his lips, he truly liked the flavor of her.

He pulled her down to the floor, chuckling. “I mean it, Karen, you’re mine now,” he told her seriously.

“I know. I want to be yours,” she admitted. The truth, no matter how much the thought scared the hell out of her, was she really wanted to be his and more. More than she had ever wanted to belong to anyone before.

“I cannot wait to get inside you.” He kissed her lips.

Karen could taste herself on his lips and instead of being repulsed she found it deeply erotic.

“You’re right. I do taste good.” She smiled flicking her tongue over his lips.

He growled, lifting himself over her and pushing her legs open.

She complied, spreading herself wide, to accept him into her body. She glanced down to see him and gulped. “You’re huge.”

“Thank you.” He lifted her thighs, bringing a pillow underneath her back. He smoothed his cock through her small dark curls, down her slit, covering his cock with her cream, awakening her desire further.

Karen thrust her breasts up trying to forget how big he was. She closed her eyes loving the sensation of him surrounding her.

She cried out as he thrust deep inside her, tightening at the harsh invasion. She could feel every inch of him pressed inside her. Looking up, she watched passion and ecstasy swimming in his eyes. He held her trapped within his power.

She felt rather than saw as his body pulled away and then soared forward going deeper than anything she had ever experienced. Her pussy pulsed around the width of his shaft.

“I knew you could take me,” he told her.

“I can feel everything.” She panted, circling his neck with her arms, taking his lips in a searing kiss.

I write extreme horror, and I self-publish through the Goat Franchise.

My latest release, ‘The Pitchfork Diaries Volume 1’ is a collection of short stories and what I call ‘terror bursts’ – some people might term it poetry. The Diaries are inspired by mankind and the sickness that has pervaded society.

The most frightening facet of the Diaries is, in my opinion, which everything you read about could have happened and can happen in the future. Unlike other horror books, there are no impossible scenarios; every story is something that will catch you off guard and shock you, and they all have a meaning and a purpose.

One of my greatest fears is that people will brush it off as trash or garbage because it is so very extreme, but from the reviews that have come in so far, readers understand the Diaries, and that is a relief.

A new volume of the Pitchfork Diaries will be released between each full-length novel. I already have six stories ready for Volume Two.

I write in a very unusual way. Everything I write starts with a title. There is more than one person who finds this unappealing, because the titles at times have no relation to the eventual story that forms from them. It is a shame to me when titles match the story, because it causes people to judge the story before they have even read it.

For example – one of the books in Volume One is called ‘The Guts of Christ’. This immediately conjures up thoughts of blasphemy and anti-religion, but it is in fact about a conspiracy that relates to the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

As far as development goes, large portions of my stories leave abundant room for the reader to form their own images, and many of my stories are open-ended. The true ending is up to the reader’s imaginations, so each ending is different for each reader, and I love that.

My biggest hero in life is my father. He taught me to question everything; when my father said ‘do the dishes’ he expected and wanted an argument. He wanted us to learn to think – granted, you never won the argument! However, it taught us to have a passion for reason and healthy debate. My siblings and I can debate your ass off, battling until we find the viewpoint never found before!

I want people to think and not just lazily accept their place in a herd of uneducated people. I often use Britney Spears as an example; she is absolutely terrible, for she sells a gazillion CDs because she lives off of the insecurities of teenage girls. We all know it, yet still with that knowledge hordes of people continue to buy her music.

I attack the obvious and put it in front of you to re-examine, and that pisses people off because then they feel stupid. I want nobody to feel stupid – I want them to know that they have the opportunity to question everything without prosecution. You do not even have to be public in your opinions; I, though, choose to be very public!

My writing demands full attention because it is very chaotic. We call it ‘vomiting’ because it’s a hot, steaming mess when it hits the paper! By the grace of God, though, I have amazing editors and a ghost writer who knows exactly how I think, so there’s always someone at hand to back me up.

If something is misunderstood or my editors don’t know where I’m going, they are awesome about just shooting me an email or asking me in Google Docs – which, by the way, is an amazing tool for writers! That is why I am so lucky; if you are involved with my writing, you have to be all in or not in at all, and I have four little miracles who are in!

I write in bars and pubs because I like a vibrant environment. I cannot stand being in a silent room looking at the walls and trying to create whilst everything is so sterile. I also smoke cigarettes, so I like to smoke whilst I write.

Other than that, there’s nothing in particular – I do like to have my iPhone with me, though. I have always wanted to try and write whilst getting a blowjob…maybe one day!

Let’s see…

1.                  Dig up Mae West and f**k the s**t out of her.

2.                  Play onstage with Motley Crue

3.                  Moon President Obama

Ask me again tomorrow, though, and I’d have three new ideas entirely…

This could be a long-winded answer, so I’ll make it short and simply say ‘no’.

I would absolutely demand that the girls who run the behind the scenes world of Jake Bannerman be in the movie; they are all beautiful and talented women, and they deserve the attention! To me, they are stars.

It’s hard to say really, I would want people who aren’t the obvious choices. I’d say Paul Giamanti, Scarlett Johansson and Judd Nelson, to name a few.

Next up is ‘Family of Dog: The Harvest’ which comes out on Christmas Day. It is a story of a group of individuals who have sold their soul to Satan, and are unhappy with the results so they sue Satan himself through the courts. I think the best way to describe the consequences is that Satan literally raises Hell.

It’s a crazy ride, and it will have you questioning everything you have ever been told about religion.

As for the second part of the question, it is very important for me to say this in all interviews – consider it a disclaimer, if you will. My writing WILL make you feel angry – no ‘might’ about it – it will anger you, shock you, and make you feel dirty and gritty. It pushes every button that you have, and even some buttons that you never knew you had!

It is violent, extreme and graphic. It is hate-fuelled, and intended for readers with a strong mind, and I have no problem in saying that. I write under a pen name for the safety of those who I love and the people who work with me. But let me assure you, I am not scared for one second for my own safety, because it is only a narrow-minded, uneducated fool who would come after me, and that is the sad reality; some people will want to hate me for forcing them to think for themselves.

Smashwords = http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/jakebannerman

Book Blurb: The Pitchfork Diaries is a collection of short stories and prose unlike anything you have ever read before. Even the darkest and most violent imaginings of your mind cannot come close to matching the horrors contained within.

J.S. Bannerman, a new name in the horror genre, has skillfully woven a collection of tales that will inescapably work their way into your psyche, take up residence and relentlessly haunt you. Prepare yourself to be confronted by words that will threaten to shake the foundation of everything you thought you knew; no truth is too
uncomfortable, no thought too gruesome to share.

All are invited to read The Pitchfork Diaries. Many will never be the same.

BIO: Born and raised in the church, J.S. Bannerman has taken the dangerous stance to question events that have been spoon fed to him as the truth since his childhood. He continually pushes
boundaries as a purveyor of terror and often strives to find that disquietude that exists inside each one of us.

He is a nomad, calling no one place home; choosing the life of a traveler while on the mission of writing the Family of Dog
series. As a result you may find him in your town, writing at your local pub, crafting tales of horror so terrifyingly depraved and heartbreakingly cruel that you would never believe that they come from a mind as normal as his. Just beware, because within each tale is a message; it’s just up to you to figure out what it means.

Early Praise for The Pitchfork Diaries:

“It’s refreshing to find a multifaceted storyteller that can tie together a multitude of different genres. J.S. Bannerman leaves no stone unturned and attacks any subject that his mind lays purchase to. He weaves a brilliant story each and every time that pulls you in and keeps you engaged.”

Author of Days with the Undead

 A Sneak Peek Excerpts….

Short story title: Born of the Flickering

EXCERPT 1: The back room was rarely used these days. Once, it had been the room where the sisters performed the ritual of baptising the infants. The old bird bath baptismal font now stood abandoned and forgotten in the corner of the room, wispy cobwebs covering it beneath the patched and faded purple sheets that had been draped over the top, hiding the once sacred tool of Mother Mary.

The room itself, with its dirty stone walls, a once luxurious deep red carpet and elegantly stained glass windows was six steps down from the main building itself, almost like a basement. It was reminiscent of a room that you might imagine finding in an old English castle, with its thick iron chandelier and its flame shaped bulbs protruding out of the top, though they too were now neglected and covered in cobwebs. The cleanliness of the room was no longer of importance, for it had a new purpose: sacrifice.

Short story title – Juden

EXCERPT 2: And as the boy spoke, blood sprayed from his swollen lips, splattering over the bed sheets and the lap of the black man. His eyes widened, but he could not take them away from the apparition in front of him as the boy opened his mouth to speak again, despite the pain it was obviously costing him.

“Mister, you have to know! The so-called chosen people, the Jews – they’re not the chosen people at all, not in the way you all think!” he said urgently, yet more blood falling from his mouth as the gurgling noises from his throat grew louder. “The black people are the Jews; we are the punished! God marked us out at the Tower of Babel and we were put to work as slaves. He created us this way, as black people, to show we were blank – he made you to serve, sir!”

Las Vegas and The Smell of Rain

We’ve had a hot summer. Then again, this is Las Vegas and summers are always hot here. This past weekend though some humidity was thrown into the mix. My writer friends and I were down at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino attending the first Erotic Author Association Convention

(http://eroticauthorsassociation.com/EAA/), and almost every time we stepped outside, we made comments on the mugginess. I felt bad for the people who were visiting this interesting city for their first time having to deal with the hazy, hot and humid aspect of our weather. Normally, September is a beautiful time of year. Nice and dry with gorgeous blue skies and only thin strips of fluffy white clouds here and there. Yet, this weekend the weather seemed a bit off. Luckily, though, the skies held back until Sunday so the Friday and Saturday convention goers could enjoy themselves.

Sunday came and ominous rain clouds blanketed the sky, the nice dark gray ones. And, it rained. Thankfully not when I had to drive anywhere. Rain here makes the roads slick when the water fights with the oils on the pavement. And the floods! Some intersections can be quite treacherous. Not just because of the deep water but the idiots who think their vehicles can transform into submarines and can get through the several feet deep water. Here’s a link to a recent news story about the rain and flooding: http://www.ktnv.com/news/local/129635288.html
Then there’s our personal take… Hubby, as he’s rinsing off his truck after the rain’s come and gone, says it seems that it doesn’t rain water here but dirt. And it sure does seem that way. After a rain, things normally have a coating of brown, dusty stuff. Perhaps that’s why the smell of rain, which is different here than in other places, has that gritty, dirt and sand-like smell, not a deep grassy and forest type smell. It’s an interesting yet earthy scent, and just another of the reasons why I like to live in Las Vegas and set my stories here.
Speaking of stories, my latest release–written with my writing partner RM Sotera–is now available! Wild West Weekend is set in a town right outside the Las Vegas valley on a fictional ranch.

Wild West Weekend–Double D Ranch Tales, 1

Two people scared to love again. Two others hesitant about commitment. A weekend in Nevada will change all that.
Bristol Ashcombe is swearing off men and taking a vacation with her friend, Cassie. Damon Dougan is packed and ready to leave the ranch for a trip, that is, until a long-legged, sexy woman steps out of a vehicle and he decides to stay. Will one sex-filled weekend be enough for either of them?

Cassie Harding travels to the Double D ranch to meet Bristol and looks forward to seeing her old friend, Dakota. Dak’s excited when Cassie, his former sweetheart, returns. Cassie and Dakota, though they’re heating up ‘the sheets’ in and out of the bedroom, have fears about commitment after years of being single. Will they find it’s better to dance together than apart?

Be Warned: light bdsm, sex toys.
