Talking with Silvia Violet

Hi and welcome to my blog, Silvia Violet. Please make yourself at home and grab a drink from my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake.  So tell us a little about yourself.

Q: What genre do you write and for what publisher(s)? *sips margarita while snuggling up to Zeke and Jake* I’ve been fortunate to have the chance to create stories in lots of different romance and erotica subgenres: sci fi, paranormal, fantasy, historical. I’ve written m/f, m/m/f, and I have my first m/m coming out in July. I write for Changeling Press, Loose Id, and Samhain.

Q: Tell us about your latest/upcoming release. What inspired it?

My latest release is Shifter’s Galaxy: Accommodating Desire. It starts a spin off series from my Shifter’s Station Collection. I revisited those characters in a free short story and when I did, Marc Devlin, Captain of Shifter’s Station, told me all about his old friend Lucy Vasilia and a couple of men he intended to send her way. Accommodating Desire tells what happens when merchant captain, Ian Hadley and his lover Connor Langley come to the Alkestis Market to do business with Lucy.

Q: Who are some of your favorite characters from your books? The hardest to write? The easiest? It’s so hard to pick favorites, but Officer Wolf Savage from Savage Wolf is certainly on the list because he was so fun to write. I loved his voice and his unabashed alpha hotness. Writing from his point-of-view flowed easily for me. Marc Devlin from Shifter’s Station is another favorite, but he was more difficult to write because he has so much pent up anger and pain. He can be cold and harsh, but he needs someone to love him. Working through that with him was challenging.

Q: What do you do when the muse decides to take a holiday or become really difficult? How do you try to coax them/she/it/he back to the drawing board? The first thing I try is to start writing as if I were telling someone about the story rather than actually writing it. If that doesn’t get my muse stirring then I switch to a different project hoping she simply needs some variety to get back in the groove. And if all else fails, I take a day off from word counts, take care of some writing-related business, and try again the next day.

Q: Is there a genre you haven’t tried yet but plan to in the future? Thus far my books have been m/m/f or m/f but my first m/m story, Protect and Serve: Sex on the Hoof, is coming out in July and I have several more m/m stories planned. I’ve also thought about writing an early 20th century historical.

Q: If the world was to end tomorrow, what three things would be on your bucket list? s trip to the Serengeti, a trip to Paris, and….well, let’s just say some of my characters have done this but I never have

Q: You’re on a remote island with a handsome man, a computer, and a “mysterious” source of electricity to power your computer. What do you do? Have him take dictation while I tell stories and make us something to eat. Then load up some porn and….keep each other company.

Q: What comes first for you: Setting? Storyline? Characters? Characters always come first. They start talking to me and slowly reveal their story, sometimes far more slowly than I’d like.

Q: If one of your books became a movie, which celebrity would you like to star as your main characters? John Barrowman. He’s awesomeness personified.

Q: What do you have coming next? Anything you want to tell us? I have two books coming out in July. The first is Seduction of the Captain, a sci fi BDSM from Loose Id. The next is Protect and Serve: Sex on the Hoof is an m/m paranormal starring one of the secondary characters from Savage Wolf.

Q: If you came with a warning label, what would it say? Things Are Not As They Seem.

Q: What else would you like readers to know about you or your work? My characters go after what they desire sexually, romantically, and in the rest of their lives. I make sure they are challenged to seek out what they want in life even if it’s something others don’t approve of or understand.

Q: Where can we find you on the web? I just launched a lovely re-designed website:  I also love chatting on Facebook and I’m on Twitter too:

Book Blurb: Shifter’s Galaxy: Accommodating Desire

Lucy Vasilia is the director of the Alkestis Market, a well-run trading center catering to both legitimate and black market concerns. She’s not a woman who normally mixes business with pleasure, but shipping tycoon, Ian Hadley’s dominating presence and cool control make her knees weak. When he matter-of-factly proposes a three way with his lover, Security Chief, Connor Langley, she decides to make an exception and give herself over to pleasure for an afternoon. But Ian and his dark, dominating lover want far more from her than a few hour’s dalliance. They intend to make her acknowledge their soul-deep connection, and they won’t be satisfied until they’ve claimed her in every possible way.
