Celebrating my new release-Hot Summer Fun anthology with a never before scene

Ok as y’all know 8grins* I had a release last week in the Hot Summer Fun anthology. My story is about a man who went through a bad break up and finds a new lover is right above him *smiles*. A Summer Night Fling is my first Paranormal M/M short story and was inspired, in part, by Joe Manganiello of True Blood.

Here is a new scene from A Summer Night Fling, where Cal and Alex meet for the first time and I hope you enjoy my boys. I plan to write a longer book for them as well as a Valentine story for the next anthology in February 2013.

A Summer Night Fling by Raine Delight- Cal Larson wasn’t expecting to find a hot sexy man stuck in a tree as he took his morning walk in the woods. When he meets Alex, sparks fly and these two will find that love is waiting to claim them. Except Alex has a secret…one that may bring danger to Cal’s doorstep. Can Cal find it in his heart to accept Alex and let this summer fling turn into something much more?

Teaser PG Excerpt:

After that fateful day, Cal had gotten drunk each night and tried to drown his sorrows

with a new boy toy but it was wearing thin on him. He knew he needed to stop but he didn’t

know what to do. Time was said to heal the heart but his heart still hurt from the cavalier way

Malcolm left, the way he threw him away for a twenty-four year old college student. If Cal

didn’t know better, he would have thought his ex was going through a mid-life crisis at thirty-three.
Shaking his head, he strolled through his house, dumping the alcohol down the drain,

determined to get on with his life again. His friends had tried to be there for him but Cal

knew he had to mend a few fences since he had basically ignored everyone who loved him

and wallowed in his heartbreak. Taking a sabbatical from his job as a paranormal rights

lawyer gave him time to figure things out but the office kept calling, asking when he was

coming back to work. He needed to get his head and heart back in sync and soon or else all

that he’d worked for could be out the door. His employer would only be understanding for so

long.

He glanced up from his task and watched the sunshine gleam off the grass and after the last bottle was down the drain, threw the glass in the recycling bucket. Washing up at he kitchen sink, he mused at how his so-called perfect life had gone to hell in a matter of minutes.
“Cal, you need to get a life. Most, if not all, people have experienced a broken heart. It’s time to get back on the horse, man, and stop trying to pickle your liver in liquor and mindless sex at every turn,” Cal muttered to himself as he stood watching the scene outside. Birds flew above, a light wind stirred the tree branches and frankly, he was tired of feeling sorry for himself. “Shit, I am done with this crap.” He stomped out of the room, grabbed a light jacket, and decided to go for a walk. He always felt at peace there for some reason.

As he entered the forest, he pondered what to do and how, if he could, to change the direction he was going. Cal knew if he didn’t get off this crazy train he was going to either get some disease, get mugged or worse yet, murdered in some alleyway. He was so lost in thought as he wandered, he didn’t feel the sunshine beating down on him, the way the birds flew above and around him or the way the wind made the leaves rustle. So he was quite surprised to hear someone call to him.

“Hey, you…yes, you.”

Cal peered through the trees but didn’t see anyone. Shaking his head, he grumbled, “Must be dreaming. Got to be the wind or something.” He had only gone a few more feet when that damned voice hit him again.

“HEY!”

Cal stopped, looked around, and rubbed his head as he muttered, “I must be going fucking crazy.”

“Actually, you are not losing your mind, buddy.”

Cal turned around so fast, he almost fell on his ass. “What the fuck?”
“I would but hey, I’m kind of in a pickle here.” The voice held a thread of amusement.

Cal wondered if someone wasn’t playing a joke on him. A joke he didn’t really appreciate at all. He didn’t spy anyone around until he looked up. There in the tree was a man clinging to the branch like it was his life vest. He was about forty feet up in the air and Cal could barely make out the other guy’s features except he was very naked. Cal’s jaw dropped in disbelief and he shook his head. What idiot in their right mind would climb a tree—naked at that?

“What in all that is holy are you doing in a tree…naked?” Cal snapped.

“Well, I am not hanging around becoming a bird perch if you want to know. My name is Alex. What is yours?”

“Cal. Can I ask why you’re in a tree on my property?”

The guy glanced around, looking embarrassed. “Um, well, the CliffsNotes version is, I, um, got chased and now I cannot get myself down.” He cleared his throat and continued, “I am afraid of heights so for the last day I have been stuck up here, hoping a storm or a strong wind wouldn’t knock me off. Can you help me, please?”

Cal started to chuckle. This was too funny to be true. Laughing softly, he looked up at Alex and drawled, “If I climb up there, can you follow me down?”
Alex nodded his head. “Sure. Well, I think I can. I never tried to climb down a tree naked before.”
Cal walked over to the tree and yelled up to Alex, “Just be ready to follow me down. I am coming up so hang tight.” Climbing up, Cal was surprised to see how handsome Alex was as he got a closer look at the man. His eyes were like emeralds, a green so deep; Cal felt he could drown in them. His body was sculpted, lean and full of muscle. Hell, he could bounce a quarter off Alex’s abs alone. Cal tried to stomp down the bolt of lust that went through him as he glanced over the naked man. Get a grip Cal, you are here to help him, not jump his bones.

Clearing his throat softly, he planted his foot on the tree limb and looked at Alex. “Okay, I need you to relax. In a matter of minutes you will be on solid ground. Now, let go of the tree branch and get ready to follow me. I will go slowly and if you need to stop or feel like you are going to fall, just holler.”

Alex nodded, his throat moving as he swallowed nervously. He slowly moved himself down the tree, keeping an eye on Alex. The guy’s naked ass above him had him semi-hard in just seconds. Cal sneaked a peek at Alex’s cock and almost moaned at how long and gorgeous it looked. It would probably fit just right in his hand. He blushed, glad that Alex couldn’t see him staring. It felt like he was back in high school, checking out the guys he had crushes on.
With each step they made, Cal talked about his plans for remodeling his house and even sang his favorite country song, off-key of course, to keep the young man relaxed. With a deep breath he jumped down the last few feet and looked up.

“Okay Alex, you are doing great. Just a few more feet and you will be on the ground.”

Before he could even move a step, he heard Alex shout something and fall the last five feet, to land on top of Cal with a grunt, knocking them both to the ground. Cal’s ears were ringing and he had a hard time catching his breath. The young man on top of him was pure muscle and though he enjoyed the feeling of the naked body on top of his, he needed to breathe before he passed out.

Behind the Story-A Summer Night Fling

So I decided to give you a little behind the scenes information on this story. :-)

Hot Summer Fun is our first self-published anthology from It’s Raining Men blog and it includes over 10 authors int he M/M Genre. Let me say that this anthology is my first foray into M/M and I am so humbled plus proud to be included with the likes of Jaxx Steele, Raawiya, Sara York, Lisa Worrall, Sue Brown, Ike Rose and more.

My story was based on my first FFF (Friday Flash Fiction) that was inspired in part by Joe Manganiello from True Blood.

He was the basis of Alex, my shape-shifter cat in my story and with readers wanting to know more after that FFF, so with the boys chattering in my ear, in one day I wrote A Summer Night Fling. I plan to continue their story in the Valentine 2013 Anthology from IRM and then maybe a full length story….

But Cal and Alex have stolen my heart. I hope you enjoy their story as much as I did writing it.

It’s Day 2 of the Easter blog hop and here is a little snippit of my upcoming novella, A Summer Night Fling, coming June 20th in the Hot Summer Fun anthology. it’s my first M/M Paranrmal (Were-Cats anyone?) and was inspired in part to Joe Manganiello from True Blood.

Meet Cal and Alex, my two heroes in A Summer Night Fling. Cal was dumped and now is trying to figure his life out. Alex…well Alex has a little issue in this scene.

Cal was bored. The lifestyle of one night stands and drunkenness was wearing thin on him. After Malcolm left him three months ago for another man, his life spiraled out of control. Now as he walked in the woods behind his house, he pondered what to do and if he could change the direction he was going.

He didn’t hear the birds or feel the sun that trickled in between the trees. So lost in his thoughts he was surprised when a voice called to him.

“Hey.”

Cal stopped & looked around but didn’t see anyone. Thinking he was losing his mind, he started walking, shaking his head to clear it when he heard it again.

“HEY”

Stopping yet again,Cal looked around again yet didn’t see anyone. “I must be losing my fucking mind.”

“Actually you are not losing your mind.”

Cal turned so fast he almost fell on his ass. “What the hell is going on here?”

The voice came again and this time Cal could hear the amusement that threaded through it. If he didn’t know better, he would have thought whomever it was thought this was hilarious. Scowling at being someone’s joke, he moved his head and then spied someone in a tree about 40 feet up.

“What in all that is holy are you doing up there?”Calgrowled.

“Well I am not hanging around to be a bird perch, buddy, that is for sure. My name is Alex. What’s yours?”

Cal couldn’t believe he was having a conversation with a guy in a tree…granted the guy, from what he saw anyways, looked great. “Name isCal. Can I ask why you are in a tree?”

“Well, it’s kind of a long story but the short, cliff notes version is I was chased up here and now I can’t get down. I am kind of afraid of heights. Been up here for close to three days. Thank god you came when you did. I have no freaking clue how to get down without me getting dizzy and falling to my doom.”

Cal blinked and chuckled. “Well Alex, if I climb up there, can you follow me down?”

“Sure. Well I think I can that is. I can try at least.”

“Just don’t look down and you should be fine. Ok hang on, let me come get you.” Cal said as he went up to the tall tree and started climbing. Soon he was able to climb up to where Alex was and was totally flummoxed. The guy was absolutely beautiful. Wavy black hair to his shoulders, piercing green eyes and my god, his body alone was totally drool worthy. He could bounce a quarter off Alex’s ab’s alone. Get a grip Cal, you are not here to jump the guy but offer aid.

“Ready? All you need to do is just follow me down. I will be here so in case you feel like you need a break or anxious, just let me know. I won’t let you fall.”

Cal saw Alex nod and watched as he swallowed hard, his mouth going dry at the lusty thoughts in his head. Shaking his head to clear those thoughts out, he tempered his lust and smiled at the man.

Cal climbed down a little and said, “Ok now let go of the death grip on the branch and turn around slowly. Keep your eyes on the tree bark, don’t look down and let me know if you get scared. We will be down in no time.”

He watched as Alex did as he said, slowly, and as he followed him down, Cal talked about how he loves walking in the woods, what his favorite music was and even sang one of his favorite songs-off-key and all. Soon they reached the bottom and Cal jumped down as Alex struggled with the last few branches. Before he knew it, Alex fell and as Cal tried to grab him, Alex landed on top of him, his breath rushing out with a grunt.

As Alex’s gorgeous eyes held his, those lips met his in a scorching kiss and the feel of Alex’s body made his cock go hard in an instant.
