Damien Dracon is back in Devon Falls, and he is about to woo the one lady he left three years ago. Family secrets and youthful pride forced him to give up the one good thing in his life: the love of Alicia Stevens. What he doesn’t expect is that Alicia has a secret of her own, and it may just tear them apart.

Can two former lovers find it in themselves to forgive one another and let love grow between them? Or will past secrets haunt them and tear them apart?

Sexy Teaser:
The stars twinkled brightly in the night sky and with a full moon out, he decided to walk through town before heading home. A breeze ruffled his hair lightly as he sauntered down the street. A light on at the Dew Drop Café caught his gaze and a shadow walked past the window. He jogged lightly across the street and almost fell through the glass pane at the sight of Alicia, weaving her way around the cases. He watched the way she moved, fluid-like and with a grace that he could never find, no matter how hard he tried with the other women. Her red hair hung in a loose ponytail that he suddenly itched to take down. His eyes widened when her lush, voluptuous body had him aching to see her in all its natural glory. Hers was the most desirable body he had ever seen. The blood rushed to his cock, straining the front of his jeans.
He whistled softly. He never thought she would become a woman that looked so voluptuous and sexy! It was quite an eye-opener, especially when she bent over to clean the case of pastries and her jeans tightened around her rounded ass. Groaning at the vision in front of him, his blood burning with a need to possess her, Damien tried to still his racing lust. When he left her, she still had that coltish look of a young lady on the verge of womanhood. To see her like this, so lush and desirable, it made him sad to know he wasn’t the one to see her grow into being the woman he knew she could be. What man wouldn’t be lucky to have her as a mate and mother of his children?
Watching her dance to a tune only she could hear focused Damien’s attention on the way she moved. As he watched her dance around the cases and tables, he found himself longing to dance with her. Thinking how her body would curve around his made him shudder with a hot need that had him rock-hard and aching for something that he hoped he could experience again — if she didn’t kick him in the balls first and then toss him out the door.
The lights dimmed, and then went off. A moment later, he heard a car start and drive off. He sighed at the loneliness he felt even more acutely. Damien resumed walking, thoughts racing through his brain like a wildfire out of control. Why can’t I just go in and talk to her? Am I being an utter ass, thinking she will welcome me with opens arms? I have to see her, touch her, explain things, and hope she will forgive me enough to give us another try. This time I won’t leave her and fly to parts unknown. I will do whatever it takes for her to trust me again and give me another chance. I know I screwed up big time. But I am going to fight for her and the love I hope is still there.

Cal Larson wasn’t expecting to find a hot sexy man stuck in a tree. When he meets Alex, sparks fly and these two find that love is waiting to claim them. Except Alex has a secret…one that may bring danger to Cal’s doorstep. Can Cal find it in his heart to accept Alex and let this summer fling turn into something much more?

Teaser Excerpt:

Three months earlier…

Cal Larson walked into his house and knew something was different. The feeling of peace, of home, escaped him that moment. He tried to figure out what it was as he tossed his coat over the stair railing and asked, “Hey, Mal, you around?”

Silence answered him. He walked across the foyer to the living room, searching for his lover of five years. After spying no one in the room, he moved deeper into the house, his heart starting to pound and an uneasy feeling making his stomach churn. When opening the kitchen door revealed nothing, he made his way back to the stairwell and ran up to the master bedroom. Hoping that Malcolm was in the shower, he walked into the room and stopped short. Drawers were open, clothes scattered, but no Malcolm was in sight.

He ran over to the closet and saw the empty space where his lover’s clothes should have been. The suitcases they used on trips were gone, and with a heavy heart he sat down on the bed, anguish running through his soul.

“What the heck happened?” Cal turned to see the destruction of the room he had given him so many wonderful memories. Of Malcolm coming toward him, naked after a shower, smelling fresh and manly, and all he needed to do was touch Cal and he was lost.

Hearing a crinkle of paper, he turned and discovered a piece of crumpled paper stuck in the sheets of the bed. Smoothing it out as best he could, he saw it was from Malcolm.

Dear Cal,
By now you know I am gone. I can’t do this anymore. I have fallen out of love with you and moved on. I am sorry for this but hope you can forgive me eventually.
My best,
Malcolm

Blinking with shock, Cal stared at the paper in disbelief. His lover had decided to leave…without even saying goodbye or offer an explanation at that. He left a ‘Dear John’ letter and wiped his hands of five years of being a couple. What happened to loving one another and giving each other support as they pursued their dreams?

“Well goddamn me to hell and back, “Cal swore as he stood up and walked out of the room, never glancing back while the letter slowly fell to the ground.

Welcome Leona Bushman

Hi and welcome to my blog, Leona Bushman. Please make yourself at home and grab a drink from my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake. So tell us a little about yourself.

*Takes drink and purrs* It’s the drink, it’s the drink, I swear :D I’ve been here before, so quick sum up, have a large family and love to be busy :D right now, I’m crocheting an afghan for my friend across the pond (UK) and writing/editing etc and winterizing my house.

To get us started can you tell us a little about what you are working on or have coming out?

I’m still working on sequels to The Ulfric’s Mate, two at a time, and they’re both over 20k. One of them was supposed to be finished already. *Glares at muse* I told my muse, keep it around 15k. A short teaser. But noooo. Had to go and write a major plot point of the series in it. Sigh. That muse of mine.

As for what’s on its way… *grins* I have TWO of them coming in the very near future. One in November, Rick Sexed up the Doc, a Naughty Nursery Rhyme, a tale with some hot steamy interracial sex. It’s scorching erotica, with m/f, m/m, and m/m/f sex scenes.

The other is a Christmas/holiday tale, The Captain’s Christmas. This one is a sci-fi I wrote just for the Christmas/holiday season and it will be out end of December. Projected date at this point is December 28th, still in the holiday season lol I’m so excited. Christmas is my favorite time of year (Halloween a close second. If it wasn’t for the spiders, then it would be a tie :P ) so it’s been exciting knowing I’ve got a Christmas story coming out.

Both Rick Sexed up the Doc and The Captain’s Christmas are short stories that are a lot of fun to read.

I have another short, Daryn’s Slayer (an historical vamp novel) in the Crimson anthology scheduled out for sometime in February.

How would you describe yourself using only five words?

Stubborn, creative, loving, compassionate, tough

If you could write a warning label for yourself as a person or an author, what would it say?

As a person: Don’t mess with my family. As an author? Don’t assume with me. You just never know what I might do or say (write) next!

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

I told you about my fashion one. *looks around* but I don’t mention that one much. In fact, you’re readers are probably the only ones to know. *thinks* Maybe I put it up on my blog once. I hope not. My other guilty pleasure? I just started Roller Derby. *grins* It’s going to take some…creative…financing but we got a brand new team and I can’t wait to learn all the rules.

Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.

The roller derby lol It’s fairly new and I haven’t blogged about it yet.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

OH that’s tricky. Within the US, probably the ocean, any coast, or New Orleans, or Montana. Outside US, Scotland, Ireland, England, France, Italy.

How do you get yourself in the mood to write?

I don’t really. I’m nearly always in the mood to write. If I’m not, I just keep plugging away until I either get in the mood, or I get what needs doing accomplished.

Can you share with us your typical writing day.  Is there anything you have to have while writing?

My typical writing day involves LOTS of distractions. I have a 3 kids still at home when not at school. Except a couple hours two days a week when he’s in early start program, my 3yo with Down Syndrome is at home even when the others are off, and he’s VERY active.

I look at FB when I’m thinking. It’s like putting whatever problem is ailing me on the back burner. Usually, I fix the problems quickly that way, or at least get a good starting point. On the other hand, I just play on twitter cuz I like it lol

But if I’m not stuck or researching, very little gets through my consciousness that’s not the story, except silence (when you’ve got young kids, silence usually means the worst kind of trouble) or my son is hungry. No one can work if there’s a hungry 3yo in the house. Trust me on this.

Who are some of your favorite authors?

LOL the list is soooo long. And really, it depends on what I~or my muse~need. I love to read. I’ll try anything. Right now, I’m so busy writing and editing that the only reading I’m doing involves research or grammar. Blah. Although, history fascinates me, so that’s not so bad. Agatha Christie probably tops the list as I can reread her books at nearly anytime and be happy with her style and her smartness.

What is in your To Read Pile that you are dying to start or upcoming release you can’t wait for?

OH shoot. Diana Paz is a new author with an historical on its way. I really want to read that one. CJ Redwine has a YA recently released that I’m pining for. But would really like to read the next JD Robb,  or Kay Hooper’s Bishop series. I’m so behind on that one! UGH. So many books, so little time!!

Is there something special you do to celebrate when one of your books is released?

One time, I got a tattoo. My first and only tattoo. LOL My muse is tapping me on the back and giving me dirty looks. I’m not including her enough. I also do a lot of dancing. But, I have a little ritual I do for myself. I have chocolate that I DO NOT share. And I plan a dinner for my husband and I to have out when I get paid. :D

Do you have a favorite TV show you can’t miss?

I don’t have TV in my house, so unfortunately, I miss all my shows. But, I watch them on Netflix as soon as they are out. My favorites are Doctor Who, Supernatural, The Walking Dead, and Once Upon a Time. CSI and Criminal Minds used to be a couple of my favs, still are really, but they’re not easily accessible for free viewing on the net. At least not that works in my area.

If you could date any character from any book, who would it be and why-no it doesn’t have to be from your books?

Probably Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyon, er before he fell in love. Why? He has great power, but greater control and compassion. Not to mention, smart, good looking, and strong.

What is the strangest source of writing inspiration you’ve ever had? Well, Rick Sexed Up the Doc was inspired by a buddy of mine tweeting while drunk. He’s gay, his good friend he was out drinking with is straight, and I’m married, but we had a ball tweeting and talking. The reason I think it’s strange is, even though I’d never met nor seen pictures of either of them before this book had finished edits, they inspired me to write it and it really wasn’t about “them” or a drunken night.

If your muse were to talk behind your back, what secrets would he/she tell?

She would tell you…*ow* my muse would like to speak for herself this time.

I’m Leona’s muse and I want to tell you she is a cupcake with that creamy filling most of the time. But tough as nails and stubborn. *glares at writer* And lordy, you wouldn’t believe the things that inspire her, or how easy she blushes. You’d think after five kids, she’d be beyond blushing, but not her.

Now, for the right bribe, I could be tempted to tell you her latest crazy writing idea…

Teaser Excerpt:

He glanced up from his task and watched the sunshine gleam off the grass and after the last bottle was down the drain, threw the glass in the recycling bucket. Washing up at he kitchen sink, he mused at how his so-called perfect life had gone to hell in a matter of minutes.

“Cal, you need to get a life. Most, if not all, people have experienced a broken heart. It’s time to get back on the horse, man, and stop trying to pickle your liver in liquor and mindless sex at every turn,” Cal muttered to himself as he stood watching the scene outside. Birds flew above, a light wind stirred the tree branches and frankly, he was tired of feeling sorry for himself. “Shit, I am done with this crap.” He stomped out of the room, grabbed a light jacket, and decided to go for a walk. He always felt at peace there for some reason.

As he entered the forest, he pondered what to do and how, if he could, to change the direction he was going. Cal knew if he didn’t get off this crazy train he was going to either get some disease, get mugged or worse yet, murdered in some alleyway. He was so lost in thought as he wandered, he didn’t feel the sunshine beating down on him, the way the birds flew above and around him or the way the wind made the leaves rustle. So he was quite surprised to hear someone call to him.

“Hey, you…yes, you.”

Cal peered through the trees but didn’t see anyone. Shaking his head, he grumbled, “Must be dreaming. Got to be the wind or something.” He had only gone a few more feet when that damned voice hit him again.

“HEY!”

Cal stopped, looked around, and rubbed his head as he muttered, “I must be going fucking crazy.”

“Actually, you are not losing your mind, buddy.”

Cal turned around so fast, he almost fell on his ass. “What the fuck?”

“I would but hey, I’m kind of in a pickle here.” The voice held a thread of amusement.
Cal wondered if someone wasn’t playing a joke on him. A joke he didn’t really
appreciate at all. He didn’t spy anyone around until he looked up. There in the tree was a man clinging to the branch like it was his life vest. He was about forty feet up in the air and Cal could barely make out the other guy’s features except he was very naked. Cal’s jaw dropped  in disbelief and he shook his head. What idiot in their right mind would climb a tree—naked at that?

“What in all that is holy are you doing in a tree…naked?” Cal snapped.

“Well, I am not hanging around becoming a bird perch if you want to know. My name is Alex. What is yours?”

“Cal. Can I ask why you’re in a tree on my property?”

The guy glanced around, looking embarrassed. “Um, well, the CliffsNotes version is, I, um, got chased and now I cannot get myself down.” He cleared his throat and continued, “I am afraid of heights so for the last day I have been stuck up here, hoping a storm or a strong wind wouldn’t knock me off. Can you help me, please?”

Cal started to chuckle. This was too funny to be true. Laughing softly, he looked up at Alex and drawled, “If I climb up there, can you follow me down?”

Alex nodded his head. “Sure. Well, I think I can. I never tried to climb down a tree naked before.”

Cal walked over to the tree and yelled up to Alex, “Just be ready to follow me down. I am coming up so hang tight.” Climbing up, Cal was surprised to see how handsome Alex was as he got a closer look at the man. His eyes were like emeralds, a green so deep; Cal felt he could drown in them. His body was sculpted, lean and full of muscle. Hell, he could bounce a quarter off Alex’s abs alone. Cal tried to stomp down the bolt of lust that went through him as he glanced over the naked man. Get a grip Cal, you are here to help him, not jump his bones. Clearing his throat softly, he planted his foot on the tree limb and looked at Alex. “Okay, I need you to relax. In a matter of minutes you will be on solid ground. Now, let go of the tree branch and get ready to follow me. I will go slowly and if you need to stop or feel like you are going to fall, just holler.”

Alex nodded, his throat moving as he swallowed nervously. He slowly moved himself down the tree, keeping an eye on Alex. The guy’s naked ass above him had him semi-hard in just seconds. Cal sneaked a peek at Alex’s cock and almost moaned at how long and gorgeous it looked. It would probably fit just right in his hand. He blushed, glad that Alex couldn’t see him staring. It felt like he was back in high school, checking out the guys he had crushes on.

With each step they made, Cal talked about his plans for remodeling his house and even sang his favorite country song, off-key of course, to keep the young man relaxed. With a deep breath he jumped down the last few feet and looked up.

“Okay Alex, you are doing great. Just a few more feet and you will be on the ground.”

Before he could even move a step, he heard Alex shout something and fall the last five feet, to land on top of Cal with a grunt, knocking them both to the ground. Cal’s ears were ringing and he had a hard time catching his breath. The young man on top of him was pure muscle and though he enjoyed the feeling of the naked body on top of his, he needed to breathe before he passed out.

“Alex…Alex.” Cal heard a mumbled “Yes?” but he couldn’t be sure. He managed to free an arm out from under his hip and tried to push Alex off of him. It was like trying to move a freaking rock. Sighing, he stopped trying to shift the man and instead, started taking stock to see if the guy was hurt. He slid a hand down Alex’s back, careful to not go past his waist, and tried to get Alex to look up or even move a little with the other hand.

Now a snippit into my other Halloween Story, Moonlight & Magic

Devon Falls 5: Moonlight & Magic

by Raine Delight

Secret Cravings Publishing

Paranormal Erotic ROmance/White Tiger Shifter

Buy at SCP / Amazon / Bookstrand / B&N Nook / All Romance (ARe)

Dixie Sinclair has watched her cousins all fall in love and now she wants the same. Dared to go to the annual Masquerade ball, Dixie finds the one thing she desires: love…one problem…can she trust that it will last after that one night?

Michael Barnes is a rare white were-tiger who was thrown out of his pride long ago for a trumped up crime, Michael roams the world searching for the one place to call home. Finding that peace in Devon Falls, he finds the one woman who stirs him like no other. Can he convince Dixie that she can trust in him forever?

Teaser Excerpt:

Still, Dixie didn’t know what to do except try to make the best of it. It was only two blocks. Surely she had enough will power to last that long.

Yeah, right. She knew she was doomed as the scent of him, all male and spicy, teased her
senses and had her swallowing hard. Oh god, I’m in deep trouble, she thought as they reached Main Street.

“You know you don’t have to walk me home. Damien is just being overprotective.”
She felt rather than saw the man next to her glance down at her and grin. “Nah, it’s okay. I was going to leave soon as well because my Sadie is home alone and I don’t like leaving her long.” The deep voice said as it sent shivers down her spine. It had a slight accent that she couldn’t  place, and she wondered about the man next to her. Where did he come from, why was he here, and what was he like when the clothes came off? Then she heard the name Sadie. A terrible suspicion rose in her at the thought of this hot man having a lady at home waiting for him.

“Sadie?”

“She’s my dog. I found her when I was in Europe, tied up to a park bench with no collar and no water. It was like someone just dumped her off, but instead of letting her roam free or taking her to the pound, they tied her up and left her. It was terrible. Once I found her, she saved me from a solitude and loneliness that I never knew I had.”

Relief filled her up even as she tried to tell herself that she shouldn’t be jealous or anything.

She hardly knew this man. “Wow that sounds like a match made in heaven for you two. What kind is she?”

“She is a mutt—seems she is a little bit of everything, or so the vet said when I got her.”
Watching the way his face lit up in the moonlight had her heart turning over. The way he loved his pet called to her even as she tried to keep her distance from him. He was dangerous to her equilibrium, Dixie was certain of it. He kept her off-center, and it scared the hell out of her.

As her street loomed ahead of them, she stopped at the beginning of it and stuck her hand out. “Thanks for the escort, but since I’m almost home and nothing jumped out in front of me, I think I can handle getting to my house just fine.”

“Nope. I am to escort you to the house, not the street, Dixie,” the maddening man said as he looked at her with a smile on those luscious lips. Gritting her teeth, she tried to keep her frustration out of her face, but damn it all, she was old enough to walk home. It wasn’t like there was a crime wave in Devon Falls. Far from it.

Miffed, she stomped forward and tried not to hit the lug behind her. Of all the men in the
world, I had to have one with a streak of chivalry in him she thought as her house finally came in view.

Breathing a sigh of relief, she turned and ran smack dab into the broad, hard chest…the
chest her hands wanted to caress and explore among other parts of his body. A slight “oomph” came out of mouth as she looked up and felt herself drown under his gaze. It was like watching a movie in slow motion. She saw his face lean down and her one thought before those luscious lips settled on hers was Man, am I in trouble now.

Paranormal Erotic Romance/Wolf Shape-shifter

Rodrick Dracon is the twin heir to the Dragon Inn. When he finds himself longing for a mate after being footloose and fancy free, he finds himself drawn to the most obnoxious, brassy woman he has ever met: Jaxon Sinclair. She is the one woman who doesn’t melt when he goes by or hangs on his every word. Jaxon is just aggravating and down right sexy as sin! Soon the sparks fly, passion goes into boiling and Halloween approaches. Can this wolf shifter get this woman to heel before the full moon? Will Jax turn the tables on this ladies man and tame the wolf?

Teaser Excerpt:

Jax didn’t want to think of Rod after her night spent washing dishes but her thoughts seemed not to bother following her wishes tonight. Each time she was there, that lothario had women draped all over him like leeches and yet he hasn’t hit on her since that one night of drunken monkey sex in high school.
Honestly, she had more than one brain cell, unlike some of the women he took home. Even though she enjoyed the way his jeans hugged his tight ass and the way his muscles bunched under his t-shirt, Jax knew better than to contemplate a night with the ’stud master’, the nickname she gave him after years of hearing about his conquests. It was enough to see him at the local hot spots working his wiles on the women and whenever she got near him, he acted like she was cramping his style.
Sighing, she tossed her shoes in the corner, grabbed some water, walked into her bedroom, and sank on the edge of her bed. She hated dishes as well as men who thought they are all that and a bag of chips. What is it with men who think they need to add one more notch on that bedpost? Jax wondered as she tossed her clothes into the corner. She wrinkled her nose at the stale beer and smoke smells that wafted from them.
Slowly she made her way to the shower and tried to figure out why she was bothered by the way the cheap floozies immediately spied Rodrick and flew to his side. It was enough to make her ashamed to be a woman. Jax stepped inside the shower and tried to erase the sight of not one, not two, but three women draped all over Rod.
She soaped down and let the hot water ease her aches. She muttered, “If I am ever that
desperate to get laid again, I hope someone just shoots me to put me out of misery. I may have enjoyed that one wild night in high school but he sure didn’t care. He left that morning without a goodbye and I am definitely not interested in him anymore. He needs to learn that some day, he will find a woman who will say no and mean it. Then I will laugh uncontrollably at the irony of it all.”
Jax got out of the shower and yawned. She turned off the lights and padded naked to the
bed. Drawing the sheets over her, Jax yawned as she watched the shadows dance in the
moonlight against her walls and thought to herself; I wonder if I will ever see Rodrick work to win not just a woman’s body but also her heart as well. He needs to learn that women are not just play toys for him. If that happens, I am going to cheer and hope she has better sense than I did. She punched her pillow and settled into sleep. He needs to be taught a lesson, Jax mumbled before sleep took over.

TRR’s GBLT Madness Blog Hop-9/27-9/30

Welcome to the GBLT Madness Hop where you can win some fabulous prizes from the participants. The hop runs from September 27th to September 30th and you can space yourselves out over 4 days, from September 27 to 30.

Now for my portion of the hop, I am going to talk about one GBLT book that I adore and recommend.

First though, my prize giveaway is a e-book PDF of Hot Summer Fun anthology with ten sexy tales ranging from contemporary to paranormal to bdsm by myself as well as Sara York, Patricia Logan, Lisa Worrall and many others. All you need to do is comment on this post what is one of your favorite gbtl books to enjoy or are itching to read over the course of the hop and voila! you are entered. I will draw the name on October 1st.

My ultimate favorite M/M Story is Paws On Me (Protect & Serve 3) by Silvia Violet. It has a big bear of a man, a sexy club owner and some serious sparks between them. Silvia has a knack of creating a storyline with equal parts humor, sexiness and romance that appeals to me on all levels. Her stories always leave me wanting more and frankly, if you haven’t checked out her Protect & Serve stories at Changeling, I urge you to please go over there NOW!

And isn’t this cover to die for? *fans face* I swear my pulse went up a notch when Silvia debuted this one and then when I saw the bear on the cover, Whoa momma…I was in love. :-)

Paws On Me is a story of a police lieutenant who finds he is attracted to a man who may be a potential murder suspect and when all Seth Morrison wanted was sex..he got romance instead with Brandon Lord, a sexy smooth club owner who may or may not be a murder suspect. With the right amount of action-in and out of bed, mystery and loads of simmering scorching heat between these two, well you can understand why I say keep a bucket of ice nearby to cool you down. They say opposites attract and believe me, Seth and Brandon are as opposite as they can be but they fit together so perfectly and I loved how Seth tried to fight his attraction to Brandon and failed at that. :-)

Paws on Me is book 3 in Ms. Violet’s Protect & Serve series (it’s a multi-author series) and the other books are as follows: Savage Wolf (1), Sex and a Hoof (2), Paws on Me (3) & Hoofin’ It To The Alter (4).

I recommend reading the other books as well for those characters pop up as well as Seth and Brandon in some of the other stories mentioned here. You can bet you will fall in love with them as well. I can’t wait to see if this author drops back into this world again in the future. I am sure there are more stories to be told there.

You can find Paws on Me at Changeling Press.

Release Blitz with Perfect Mate by Mina Carter

Perfect Mate by Mina Carter

Monsters do exist…and they’re the good guys.

Lillian Rosewood leads an ordinary, boring life working as the manager of a psychiatric hospital. The highlights of her day, other than her skinny hot chocolate, are the hunky guards who work in the secure section. Until a late night emergency is wheeled in.

Captain Jack Harper is insane, drop-dead gorgeous…and just had his abdomen shredded. Despite the fact they’re not an emergency room, Lillian can’t turn him away and risk a death on her hands. Unable to get the handsome soldier out of her mind, Lillian sneaks into the restricted area to check on him. What she finds is beyond belief. Somehow Jack has managed to heal himself from a near fatal wound in mere hours.

When one of the doctors, Walker, attempts to rape her, things go from bad to worse. In the blink of an eye, Jack is loose and Walker is dead… and Lillian must accept a truth about her rescuer that will change her world forever. What if the patients aren’t insane? What if their stories of secret government experiments and monsters are true?

Warning: Contains blood, mayhem and nude werewolves operating heavy weaponry. Large amounts of sarcasm, and smart-ass vampires may offend some readers. No civilian hospital staff were harmed in the making of this story.

She couldn’t believe she was crying. Lillian didn’t cry. Ever. She was tougher than that. Tougher than the stereotypical little woman who fell apart at the first sign of danger… Or the mother who couldn’t cope after the death of her husband and hightailed it to her lover with teary demands to “make the nightmare go away”. And conveniently forgot the fact she’d left her baby daughter behind.

She was not that woman, nor anything like her.

Once in the corridor, away from the stench of death and the sight of all that black, wrong blood, she stepped away from Jack and swiped at her tears with the back of her hand. Despite the fact he’d just killed a man, there was something about him that made her feel safe. Safe with a murderer. Okay, now she knew she was losing it. Perhaps insanity ran in her family and they’d just never told her?

“I’m sorry. I’m not normally like this,” she apologized as she looked up and offered a small, teary smile. Her mouth already open to explain, she stopped.

He was gorgeous.

She’d known that. When they’d brought him in, her mind had told her that he was sex on a stick. But he’d been injured, a patient. Even though she was the hospital manager, she was bound by the patient-doctor thing, surely? The one that said “thou shalt not lust after the patients”.

Now though, without all the blood and the ragged uniform—even in the hospital gown that did nothing for anyone—he was so good-looking it took her breath away. She shook her head slightly, waiting for the hidden cameras and some cheesy reality show host to burst out of the supply cabinet in the corridor next to them. He couldn’t be for real. Soldiers just didn’t look that good.

With warm amber eyes set above sharp cheekbones, his face was bisected by a strong, straight nose over sensually full lips. A severe buzz-cut merely highlighted his attractiveness, concentrating all attention on his face. He should be strutting his stuff on a catwalk, not getting down and dirty playing soldier.

Her eyes travelled downward, and the rest of him more than fulfilled the promise of his face. He was toned…hell no, he was ripped. Even his muscles had muscles. Tall and broad shouldered, he was built like a quarterback, and his life had obviously been one of violence. Old scars dotted his skin like a mad artist had gone to town with his body as the canvas.

“I know you’re not. You’re strong.”

His words drew her attention back to his face. His eyes were blue again. He smiled, which almost robbed her of reason, but she held onto the thought for grim death. No one’s eyes changed that fast. What the hell have they done to him?

“Your eyes… What the hell are you?”

The smile turned cold, his features freezing around it and locking it into place. In hindsight, perhaps a demand for information wasn’t the best way to deal with this, especially after what had gone on in the room behind them. Walker was slumped, dead, but somehow she knew Jack wouldn’t hurt her.

He moved toward her. Only three steps, but with those blue eyes intent upon her, it seemed more like a stalk. With every movement he made, her instincts screamed “predator”.

She held her ground, tilting her head to look at him as he neared. He stopped inches away from her, so close the heat of his body beat at her skin even through her clothing and his gown.

“We don’t have time for this, Lilly.”

He lifted a hand to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear. As though he couldn’t stop touching her, he stroked a gentle finger down her cheekbone to the corner of her lips. It took everything she had not to turn her head and press into the small caress, but she held true to her purpose, her eyes on his.

“Make time.”

His lips quirked, and everything female in her went into meltdown. He had to know the effect he had on women, so she ignored the reaction and met him look for look.

“Stubborn little minx.”

She choked. “What did you call me?”

“Minx,” he repeated, lowering his head and brushing his lips over hers to silence her. As a tactic, it worked. The first touch of his lips, warm and firm over hers, was like setting light to kindling. Heat flared and caught, racing through her body like wildfire.

She moaned, unable to stop her lips parting automatically in invitation. No matter what her mind was screaming about the dead guy in the next room and the possibility the hunk stood in front of her wasn’t just human, her body knew what it wanted, and what it intended to get.

He didn’t pass up the invitation. Groaning, he moved closer and deepened the kiss. With a ruthless sweep of his tongue, he parted her lips farther and slid into the softer recesses of her mouth. She shivered, hot and cold chills chasing over her skin as he kissed her in the darkness of the corridor.

She’d been kissed before and, as she’d thought anyway, she’d been kissed well. This was something else entirely. He kissed her as if there was nothing else in the world. As if she was his sun, his moon and stars…his everything. He didn’t kiss her, he made love to her with his lips and tongue.

Abruptly he broke away, tearing his mouth from hers. With a groan of frustration, he leaned forward to rest his forehead against hers.

“I don’t want to let you go.” The tone in his voice pulled on her heartstrings. “When they brought me in, there was just pain and blood…so much blood. Darkness was coming for me, and I was ready. But an angel called my name… I had to come back to see if she was as beautiful as she sounded.”

His words reached deep inside her. She already thought he was gorgeous, but to have him spouting words that…romantic wasn’t the word. The claim he’d come back just to see her, that hit her deep down and resonated in her soul.

“And…?”

She almost dared not ask the question, and when she did, her voice emerged breathy and hopeful. Like a teen finally meeting and speaking to her film idol in the flesh.

“Oh yes, she was worth it.”

Welcome Leona J. Bushman today

Hi and welcome to my blog, Leona Bushman. Please make yourself at home and grab a drink from my hunky cabana boys, Zeke and Jake.  So tell us a little about yourself.

Wait up. I’m still trying to grab your hunky cabana boys… er, for the drinks I mean. I’m a little crazy, and a lot mother. Or is it I’m a little mother and a lot crazy? :D Either way, I have 5 children, I love to read, swim, paint, write, craft, garden, hike, camp… I just love to keep busy. I hate housework. Loath housework, in fact. Would rather weed in 100 degree weather than do a load of laundry. I’m a cancer survivor and one of my children has Down Syndrome.

So tell us a little about your latest book. What inspired this masterpiece?

I love werewolves. Nolan had been sitting on my mind, impatiently waiting to be written, when I saw a call out for werewolves. stories I mean. ;-)  The MS I’d been working on came to a screeching halt and Nolan told his story. At least, a short abbreviated version so I could get back to my MS. But then, my editor had to go and say, hey, I want more info—what about this and this and—and I gave her it.

If you had any super powers, what would they be and why?

I would have Mary Poppins super powers. Practically Perfect in every way. A voice like a goddess, things put themselves away at the drop of a hat or snap of the fingers as the case may be, and able to help families come together. Oh, of course, as I’m practically perfect, I’d be able to make a time machine until I found MY doctor!

What genre haven’t you tried yet but want to in the future? Historical Fiction. True historical fiction. Could be paranormal with ghosts and gothic-ness, but no vampires, werewolves, etc. Well, okay. Would have something. Trying my hand at a historical vampire short at the moment. Seriously, rough draft. That’s it. I *think* I’ve tried my hand at all other adult genres. No interest in writing YA, even though I enjoyed Harry Potter.

What is one thing readers might be surprised to know about you?

Surprised? That’s a good question. I blog regularly. Sometimes regularly. Okay, I blog whenever my life allows me to. I’m pretty upfront on it. I try to keep the more negative aspects to a minimum only because I believe in trying to spread positives.

I think, it would have to be that my favorite craft is cross-stitching. I absolutely love it, yet don’t do it at all anymore. I’ve made two heirloom Christmas Stockings. I need to make three more, but I’m so picky and with little ones getting into stuff, it’s hard to concentrate.

If we asked your muse to describe you in three words, what do you think they might say?

Hmmm, which muse is sitting on my shoulder today? LOL I think whether it’s evil muse of good muse, they’d agree on stubborn, creative, & loving.

What authors can be found in your library of books?

Agatha Christie, Dick Francis, Linda Lael Miller, Margaret Moore, (Met and visited with Linda, and she’s the one who gave me great writing advice.) Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Linda K Hamilton, Stephen King, RA Salvatore, Kay Hooper, Judith McNaught, Jude Deveraux, Jane Anne Krentz, et al, JD Robb, JA Jance, Jeffrey Deaver, Maggie Shayne, Alicia Rasley, Diane Mott Davidson, Ngaio Marsh, Anne Perry, etc, etc, etc. I seriously have given away enough books, that if I’d kept them all, I’d have a library, including reference books. The authors named here are just the ones I KNOW, off the top of my head, that I still have more than one book in my personal library. So many books. And since becoming a writer, I’ve discovered so many new authors, I can’t keep up. I love to read. It was my big escape. I started with CS Lewis and Agatha Christie at ten and eleven and never looked back.

Have any guilty pleasures you want to share with us?

I guess, since my husband of 13 years this month finally found out, I can share one. Maybe this should have gone under the surprise section. But I love fashion. I love beautiful clothes, fabrics, beading. And Project Runway, yeah. That would be at the top of my guilty pleasure list. I make costumes for our local community theatre and that’s the closest I come to indulging that passion. If you looked at my wardrobe, you wouldn’t know I love it so much. One day, I hope to indulge.

Is there anything you’re currently working on that you can give us a taste of?

*Rubs hands together in wicked glee.*  Maybe…Okay. You talked me into it.  *grins*

This is an excerpt from the next novel in the series. There will be other shorts, one in August, but this is the next planned full-length one. It’s tentatively called The Midwife’s Moon.

Tonight was the third night. The next full moon, three days from now, she would be a werewolf. Excitement flooded her, causing her heartbeat to race as scattered leaves on the ground in the breeze. He would be with her, welcoming her into her new life.

She stood, unashamed of her nakedness. Her petite womanly form silhouetted against the moon, hiding her face in planes of harsh darkness. He turned to her, the cold moonlight awash on his features. In an instant, his soul opened to hers and what she saw was an empty hallow. Shallow feeling in his eyes, lust for her form, none for her inner soul.

That moment, that realization, that was when her bubble burst and a dam of icicles slammed through her body. She stood there and posed in all her glorious nakedness—one last look for her deceitful lover. A sad smile flitted across her face as the last vestige of her innocence washed away from her. Her heart became incased in the icicles, frozen, and guarded by shards.

What is your favorite way to relax after a hard day working and writing?

Watching movies/tv shows, particularly Doctor Who and Supernatural with my boys, or painting J

What is one historical figure you would love to chat with and why?

Oooh. Good question. I love history (kind of makes me wonder why I haven’t tried my hand at it before?) and so many people appeal to me. I think I’d like to know what really was up with King Henry the VIII. He seemed so alternately brilliant and a completely selfish wastrel with no thought of the future. His impact on the nation of England, from the changing of religion to his influence on the parliament, and the absolute way he ruled, fascinates me.

Would you care to mention any upcoming or WIP projects that readers can look forward from you in the future?

As I mentioned, The Midwife’s Moon is the next full length, but I have a short story in Ravaged, which is due out August 3rd, and another short I’m trying to finish up that are in The War of the Weres series. The shorts help introduce and give you the stories of some of the secondary characters. The full-length novels are the meat and bones of the series. But the shorts are fun to write and give you the insights to how everything’s building up.

Out of all your books, do you have a favorite one? If not, then which one is closest to your heart?

Usually, whichever one I’m working on is my favorite, lol. But in this case, Alex, the heroine for The Ulfric’s Mate, really grew as the book did and she has become a favorite character of mine. Her grace, her compassion, and her toughness make me wish I could be more like her. Her family life is less than stellar, but she doesn’t use it as an excuse to behave badly and she does more than survive under less than ideal circumstances.

Thanks for coming. Is there anything else you want to add?

Thank you so much for having me!  had fun answering your questions and having…drinks with your cabana hunks! I’d like to give an excerpt as well as the blurb and link

And the adult excerpt:

The water sluicing down her back felt erotic knowing he would see her soon. The shower curtain pulled to the side, she could hear but not see as her eyes still had shampoo in them. She gasped when she felt his hands on her puckered nipples. He kissed her open mouth and took one hand to pull her close against his rapidly dampening skin.

The water cleared her eyes and hair of shampoo, but she kept her hands up in her hair, which pushed her chest more fully into his hand. His hand slid down from her nipple to her navel then around to her ass. He pulled her into him as close as he could, his dick pushing against her stomach. She wanted to climb into him, be a part of him; she wanted him inside of her.

One leg lifted to his hip, and he grabbed it and lifted her up. He was bearing most of her weight. She reached up and grabbed the top of the shower curtain rod and flexed her arm to help hold her up on the slick surface.

He dropped his lips from her mouth to her neck, suckling along the nerve there, drawing a straight line of lighting from his mouth to her clit. She would swear he touched her with his mouth on the inside of her, all the way down. She pulled on the arm supporting her weight trying to rub even closer to him. His lips moved lower, and she held her breath in anticipation. Yes! She wanted his mouth on her nipples. Licking and sucking.

Crash!
